Close Button (Single) not appearing
Saturday, May 15, 2010 by Kevin_Walter | Discussion: Skinning
I'm using Skin Studio 7 on Vista Home Premium x64.
For some reason, the stand alone close button isn't showing up. Even if I use the default one, it refuses to appear on windows. If I click on the top right corner of a window, it will close as if the button is present but... there's nothing there.
Any reason for this?

Vista...
Yes, I set the position. In fact, I tried several variations to see if I could make the button appear at all.
I'll try method 2.
Yeah, removing it and re-adding it did nothing.

Are you making per pixel or non per pixel frames?

Per Pixel. I haven't edited any of the others.
The regular close/minimize/etc buttons work fine.

If you delete all the code for the single close button (IE leaving it unskinned), WB will use the normal close button in it's place. If that works with your design, it's a solution.

you could do this and then recreate the button keeping the original's position OR open up someone else's blind to verify/match their settings OR package it up, PM me for my e-mail address and I'll be happy to take a look for you.

Well, this is odd. VERY odd, I would say...
When Vampothika originally told me to try removing the button entirely, I figured removing the code would do that job for me without having to track down and remove anything manually from any WB or SKS files.
The funny part is that it didn't work. I thought it would revert back to the original single close button when I did this but nothing happened. Which is why I said it didn't work. Even after re-adding the button, it still didn't work.
Now... I always shut down my laptop when I'm not using it. I just woke up about an hour ago and got on this site about five minutes ago. Browsing to this thread, I see those new responses suggesting I wipe out all of the code. Figuring "what the hell, I'l give it another try" I did just that. And this is what I get now...
Apparently, it decided it would use the regular set of images and just disable the minimize and maximize buttons.
Not what I was going for. Actually, it looks better, in my opinion. I was just going to use a a small little glossy square with an X in it.
Thanks for the help, everybody!

a few questions:
what os are you skinning?
some solutions:
1. has the button align numbers been set? (this can be overlooked at times)
2. (more harsh method) completely delete the whole codex of that button, delete it from the skin studio folder, if you have the button saved in a folder of some sort, move the button to desktop or something and then delete it from that folder or whereever it came from. hit apply in skinstudio and then try to add the button again. if that fails it could be a corrupt skin, this happens sometimes and you might have to start over.
