Help me please

moved files

Tuesday, May 11, 2010 by theAVMAN | Discussion: ObjectDock

I was setting up ObjectDock and while making a dock entry I somehow moved all my pics!!  Windows 7

I was trying to link to...c:\users\harley\my pictures\wb's\robodef_wb

now all those images are in...

c:\users\harley\my pictures\wb's

and there are no other images in my pics any more

tree structure used to be like this

c:\users\harley\my pictures\....then I had Walls, clocks, cursors,wb's etc everything that wasnt in the folder I was linking to is gone !!!

I am affraid to even turn off PC I dont want to lose all that work!

Thank you Harley!

It's probably just me, but your post makes no sense....

What did you try to link (and lose) and how did you try to link it?

I don't think so..... k.i.s.s., Harley....k.i.s.s.

I'll take a shot:

When Windows puts folders/files in the library it doesn't move the original, just copies. You can delete them, but the originals remain. That's why I asked how you tried to link and what "disappeared"

Pick one of the file names that did 'something' and do a computer search (include Hidden files in search critera).

ObjectDock only links to directories. ObjectDock doesn't even have the capacity to do any sort of file/folder manipulation. If files are moved and/or missing, then it isn't related to ObjectDock.

I'm glad to hear it! The thought of losing files can be a scary one. A few years ago I lost my primary and backup hard drives at the same time, so I know data loss can be very inconvenient. I definitely recommend making a backup of important files, and making two backups of very important files.
