The New My Skins page
Thursday, April 29, 2010 by kenwas | Discussion: WinCustomize 2011 Feedback
Thanks for getting this up and running. Well done!
I have a question about the new column called Approved.
All of my offerings are marked "No" in this column. Shouldn't this be "Yes" because journeyman uploads are automatically "approved" ?
Not trying to nit pick as I am sure you have your hands full with important fixes. Just raised the question for your awareness.
For those that do not know how to get to the page, click your screen name at the top of the home page right before My Site.
Then select the My Skins List on the right side of the page that opens.

I'm still not getting anything on this skins page regarding comments. And I've been to the skins already checking comments.
So if anyone reading this leaves a comment and I don't reply your not being ignored...I just have no way of knowing you were there anymore.

this is what I'm planning on doing... having some issues with cookies expiring quicker than desired though that I have to iron out first (this is the cause of the page not working sometimes)

Are we ever going to have the comments notification thing working again like we once did? I used to work flawlessly and now it doesn't work at all. I still have to go and look if any comments were left. I really don't understand how something that worked great before can't be made to work like it did before.

New comments are working fine for me WG, hopefully someone in support can fix your problem, and your login issue too. ![]()

I think I got the log in issues fixed myself...but I still don't see any new comments being listed on the "My Skins" page and I guess email notifications aren't working yet either. And the longer things aren't working on the site the more I'm just losing interest. ![]()

Look at it this way WG, Stardock is the only place left both creates and supports their products in desktop customizing, there is no one else around in my opinion. I must say they have made a vast amount of improvements since they switched over to the new site permanently, and I am sure they will have things ironed out within the next few months. Look at it this way, it can't get any worse at least! ![]()
I'll stick around for a while... ![]()

I'll be here as well Tom...just not as much as I used to be...it drains me waiting for things to load and annoying when things aren't working the way they used to is all.

I've completely lost interest....... The "My Skins page is a joke, and has ruined my enjoyment of the site, along with MANY other aspects.
and why is there a column for "Author" on the My skins page, yet no application icon at the side??? What a complete waste of space! Which other author is going to be on MY skins page??? and I clear my cookies every time the browser closes, so I never see new comments either.
For the first time in 10 years, Wincustomize is no longer my home page.................... what a shame.

I agree.
And how about the sorting filters? We used to be able to view for example just the WBs and such with a total download count.
or sort by rating and number of downloads, and where is the delete button.

I agree with comments 30-33. I still skin and enjoy skinning, but I don't enjoy this site nearly as much as I used to. It's too "to the point." Not much drawing me back for more.

I agree.
all been said 3 weeks ago...in the bug thread......I just don't think they're listening...
I don't mind learning my way 'round a new site...even though it's a tad frustrating....but the golden rule is....if you can't make an area BETTER......THAT'S the time to leave it alone....
the best thing that can be done is to stop playing around with it for playing around sake....and return this page to EXACTLY how it was so we can utilise it efficiently....
for myself...I'm sorted.....I just don't go there anymore...

While progress has indeed been made, I must agree that the author column is redundant and the lack of a delete feature is certainly problematic.

The new profile paged linked to from the skins gallery when you click a Author's name is very useless and since enough has been said above about the new my skins I would suggest that until something much better is done for these that for now, as was with the old site, when click authors name in gallery we should be linked to their WC site (the one linked to from the forums when click name). At least there they would be able to see author's entire gallery and be able to sort it by skin type.
On the old site access to others My Skins page had been taken away, why the change to let others now see our My Skins again.

Right now when go to another users My Skins and try to set view to tiles it redirects to Explorer All skins. Explorer all that is not even all skins, last skin number from top of it's page Skin 3995 of 3995, yet if you go to Most Popular, past 30 days, it shows that there is over 54500 skins. So how can 3995 be all skins.

If there is no cookie for the skin, couldn't you just make one based on the My Skins page for all of the no-cookie skins, and then update the cookies individually as they are visited (like it is now)?
