Newest Additions Policy Change

Wednesday, August 6, 2003 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

The new policy we're currently going with on the wallpapers is to loosen up the moderation a bit so that the top 20% or so of submissions are allowed up (instead of the top 5%) so that fewer people get angry with us (we're volunteers and hate mail makes us unhappy ).

However, we are going to reapply the rule that only wallpapers that get a moderator rating of 6 or higher will show up on newest additions. This way, the walls don't crowd out other things. Unfortunatley, T-man, the coding god of WC is on vacation this week. So in the meantime, I've modified it so that walls don't currently show up in the newest editions (I know just enough SQL to be dangerous).

We do appreciate the efforts of wallpaper designers so we apologize for the inconvenience. of newest additions being wallpaper free for now. The goal will be that the newest additions will have a good balance between the various sections. So we may tinker with the rating so that only the top 1 or 2 wallpapers each day show up under the newest additions.

All wallpapers that pass moderation can be found in the wallpaper section.

I think this is a perfect balance between what everyone wanted to see happen. Hopefully this will cut WAY back on the complaints about walls being moderated.

Not that I minded. In fact, given my druthers, I would mod the living crap out of the wallpapers. Then again, I once tried to annex New Jersey as part of my back yard, so I might be a bit heavy-handed.

not many walls have been uploaded recently...so are walls not allowed until you get the coding up and running?

I would have to say i think its a nice gesture and understand the flaming your getting, but look at the d loads per day on the new ones your letting in.. I think that says it all. I think its cool for it to be a challenge to get a wall on WC. It makes it all the more worth it when i know it goes through all this stuff to make it.

Thats just me.

WC forever!! DocX

haha: just a little fact, but 40 new walls just passed moderation at the same time. Doesn't leave much room for...well anything else...
