Taskbar Transparency

Tuesday, April 20, 2010 by sboroff | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I was curious why can some blinds taskbar go completely transparent while others leave a blurred white part like in the images?

I normally like to use completely transparent taskbars but have found a lot cannot go completely transparent.

Blinds used here are:

Do you have Vista Home Premium or above?

Do you have Aero enabled?

If the answer to either of the above is no, that would be the problem.

Also, go into task manager and be sure dwm.exe is running.

I have Vista Home Premium, and Aero is running.

dwm.exe is running.

The images were taken within a couple of minutes of each other.  The only thing I did was apply the blind.

The difference between the 2 skins is the setting in skinstudio for that section. On softer I have it set to semi transparency, where Vamp has her skin set to blur.

If you have skinstudio it's easy to fix

Also make sure that you haven't checked the force blur effect box in your windowblinds transparency settings

I just want to say thank you to all of you!   It solved a similar problem for me too.    I will get the hang of it all one of these days.
