Carbonix Skin Pack Now Available!

Wednesday, May 28, 2003 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

After months of effort, the 5 premium visual styles in the Carbonix Skin Pack are ready to go. The 5 skins make full use of the new WindowBlinds 4 features and were personally tweaked by Stardock's SkinStudio development team to ensure flawless performance.

The 5 skins are designed to appeal to all user styles. Carbonix itself is one of Treetog's coolest skins with its own unique use that is both visually appealing and still useful. MikeB created Apogee, a skin that shows off the best of the WindowBlinds 4 features while delivering a truly alternative look.

Carbonix also comes with Cardz, a skin that has the title bar buttons on the bottom and makes your windows look like pieces of hardware. Visit the Carbonix home page to see screenshots of each one. The entire skin pack is only $8.95 for all 5 skins.

I will gladly pay for these skins. For the mere fact that they have already given me so many free ones. These things are hard to make and take a lot of time. I think such talented generous skinners deserve to be paid for there efforts!! Thanks guys, And girls..

I purchased the pack, but not realising the serial needed to instal them wass on the final confirmation page, I closed the browser without noting the number Stupidly no email copy is sent to the email address I provided, so now I cannot install them. I emailed Stardock and have had no reply, and the serial lookup claims to email me my serial number, but it never has a single serial number included (god knows why?).

I think Stardock should do sales via BMT Micro (like Pixtudio use) as that is much better.

Stardock, any chance of me being sent my skin pack serial number then or what?

One upside, the Skins looked great, maybe soon I can use them.

Cheers

i know the suites skinners are reading....can you tell me where the wallpapers are that go with some of the skins? i ask because a few of them look like part of the package and i can't find them in their directories or on wincustomize.

Ok, I'm eating humble pie now, seems I typo'd me email address, I hate when that happens. SORRY STARDOCK! Now I can enjoy these wicked WB Skins

Sorry dudes, but these just don't strike me as commercial quality skins, even for Windowblinds efforts. Carbonix is without doubt the strongest of the three here and even that isn't the sort of skin you could honestly use day in day out whilst going about your everyday PC business. PixOS was, I suspect, something of a high watermark.

PixOS is indeed the best suite out there. for a different mood, cartoonXP is pretty high-quality as well. you're right, the skins in this pack - while very good - would seem right at home as skins in the windowblinds section of wincustomize.com instead of on the pay-for-play page at stardock. and carbonix is the best one, but i'll never get used to the min, max, close buttons being moved, so i'll rarely use it.

i would have paid $20 for these if they were commercial quality. fact is, they aren't. ok, that's not really a fact, but an opinion. don't let that imply that they're not good, because they are. PixOS was commercial quality. CartoonXP was commercial quality. Abracadabra was too, but i rarely use it because i feel assaulted with the logo and i can hardly read the text anywhwere, especially the programs menu which is just a sin.

man, i know all that sounds negative, but i really do love and support this community. i feel it's my right as a member of this site, buyer of most premium suites, skins, and icon packs to sort of voice my opinion on the product purchased.

keep skinning you guys, please. i'll keep buying them to support you.

I think the fact they cost a whisker under $2 a piece makes up for the difference in quality to PixOS. I have bought all the Pixtudio except for Logika which I don't like massivly, but I wouldn't say these are hugely below Pix. I feel it's a shame that ChromeXP seems the only one to have a wallpaper though.

I hope some people see fit to make the sysmetrix, winamps and ICQ/Trillian skins to go with them.

Cheers

Dokt : Hmm, I can't agree. 'Apogee' is the smoothest skin I have ever worked with and 'Syncronus' is a good skin for doing some productive work with a nice touch. I use this skin on my work pc (XP) and it is simple and nice at the same time. Alone these 2 skins are worth the money.

Was in need of a 'Syncronus' Sysmetrix skin, so I made one : https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=28&SkinID=576

I have never, to the best of my knowledge, posted anything negative . . . and I do intend to keep it that way . . . sort of. I was really impressed with the screenshot of these 5 skins and also glad with the price. Don't get me wrong, I have no problems supporting the work of those involved (I have purchased the WC Subscription, Object Desktop, Cursor XP, a couple other skin suites, etc.). I do feel that a workman is worthy of his hire. As of yet, I haven't even began to take the time to learn how to skin myself. That's why I'll pay others to do it for me! However, after I DL'ed these, I wasn't as impressed as I hoped I would be. It's not that they aren't great because they are. It's just that you can find others that are just as good for free. When I DL'ed TOON XP I was excited because the quality was SOOOO high and you couldn't get it any other way than to pay for it. As I ramble on, I do appreciate the work. To ALL those involved, keep up the incredible work. Hey . . . I can't do anything close to what you do so I shouldn't complain. My hat's out to all of you! Blessings!
P.S. Is it just me or have the wallpaper questions been unanswered?

No one has yet answered if the walls are available. I assume from the posts that they are not included. I'll make you a deal - post the walls (especially the one for Carbonix) and I promise I'll purchase the suite

Yep, that Carbonix Wall would be nice. And it would be nicer if the wall comes out in two version, one where the that "icon-bar?" is at the top, and one where it is on the bottom.

Post after post about the need for walls. It seems someone needs to be designated to make a response. One would think.
