New flaw found in Windows Media Player

Sunday, May 11, 2003 by yrag2 | Discussion: WinCustomize News

There is a new vulnerability in the Windows Media Player that could enable an attacker to execute code on the machine of a user who downloads a skin for the player. A patch is available for those using version 7.1 and Media Player for XP.

Vulnerabilities are now another reason why I do not use that bloated crapware that M$ calls Windows Media Player. I prefer to use version 6.4 when a video file is only available in the WMP format.

Solution: Only download Windows Media Player skins from sites that you can trust. Simple.
