Categories?

I am ready to buy the 2.0 Beta, but I need to know does it have categories. like the dell dock? If not, do they plan to have categories in the 2.0 release?

I don't have the dell dock so I'm not 100% sure of what you mean but a tabbed dock allows you to assign the tab name and put only what you want on it.......
for instance you could have a tab called Office which included all the MS Office shortcuts as well as a calculator and folder links to the data files and web site shortcuts you use for work.....it's up to you how many tabs you set up.....

you have 1 icon and when you mouse over it shows the icons in that group

That's pretty cool. Sort of like the "show as menu" option for folder shortcuts on the dock (that's what I use, it's just not as pretty).

That is pretty cool. There is so much that Stardock could do with this new dock. I've seen a lot of bug reports & suggestions on how to improve it. Unfortunately I've also seen VERY little feedback since the launch of v2.0b
Come on guys throw us a bone here.

We're watching and taking notes, don't worry! I've been quite busy working on reproducing bugs, as well as documenting new bugs as they are reported. I like the categories idea, and the developer has been informed of the feature requests we receive. Ultimately, we can't include every feature that is suggested, but we take each one we see under consideration. Don't worry, guys, when you post on these forums you don't go unnoticed.

AH HA. See that's all we needed. Now we know for sure what is going on and can relax that all our hard bug finding is not being wasted. Thank you

but aren't some of these things already been done? like this one specifically in the dell dock and impulse dock?

As the Dell dock is exclusive for Dell, we all don't know if Dell would really like to have Stardock have the very same functionality in a commercial product. I wouldn't have too high expectations.
What I would like to see is flyouts enhanced with stacks and grids. Pretty the same functionality.

but the category feature of the dell dock, is in the impulse dock. and it's also cool that the impulse dock will auto add stardock apps. this is stuff that they give away for free already, so why can't they put it in their paid version?

Hi all,
Just purchased ObjectDock today have been using DellDock for the last couple of months but run into some probs with v2 of that and had to revert to v1.
I'd just like to suggest that ObjectDock v2 have the 'catergories' feature like the DellDock has as this is my biggest problem with ObjectDock at the moment.
At the mo i have just four catagories on my DellDock but if i use the ObjectDock that relates to 23 actual icons/programs. I believe you can use the feature on the tabbed dock but hope it will be available to use on the zoomer dock.
Cheers
Dave.

Dewie...you shot a Bull's Eye. All folks really want is to know someone in the Cloud is listening.
On a practical note: Just realize that maybe SD has an exclusive contract with Dell for that feature....so they might not be able to give it to us.![]()

There aren't categories like the Dell Dock. They are two types of docks for OD, one is the zoomer dock (similar to mac dock, rocket dock etc) the other is a tabbed dock.
I don't know if they are planning to include categories like they did with the Dell Dock or not. I am sure Jafo will pipe in with an answer though.
