Only reasons I can see right now is for OD to be a 64 bit program would be to show 64 bit programs as thumbnails rather than icons on bars that are showing running programs/minimized programs. There would probably be some minor improvements in run speeds for those with 64 bit based OS's. Finally, 64 bit is here to stay, and should be supported.
All that being said though, meh, as long as it's stable these are minor issues.
I am not trolling or wantng to start a flame war.

Quoting Gizmo15, reply 109So far I really like 2.0. I'd like to see the My Document, My Videos, etc folders point to the Libraries in Windows 7 instead of the Users folders. Also, it would be great if OD would be able to do the preview windows like the Win7 taskbar. If so, I'm sure a lot of people would hide the Windows taskbar altogether.
u can drag the library folders to the OD bar, or is it something else you are actually trying to do? i just went to libraries, and dragged my libraries documents folder to it, seems to work
Actually these icons are "special". They offer a drop down menu so you can choose where to point them in the edit icon box. It would be nice if they felt consistent with the OS. ![]()

my laptop is running windows 7 ultimate x86, 4gb of ram, core 2 duo t9500 2.6, and gf 8600m gt, but it runs like crapola, i even changed to only 256mb, lowest quality, looks and runs the same. maybe it's not actually chaning those options?
Similar here: Dell Precision M6400, QX9300 CPU at 2.53GHz, 8 GB RAM, nVidia Quadro FX3700M, and the performance is typically quite slow and choppy, though not always so. But the sputtering makes it not only visually not so appealing, but also makes it harder to predict and use. I'm more productive with it off, at the moment.
This has got to be a matter of some sort of idiosyncratic incompatibility or conflict somewhere--more than enough horsepower to run it 10 times over at full speed, I'd think.
I don't play games that much on this system, but when I do, involving graphical tasks orders of magnitude more challenging than OD2, I've no problems.
My OD2+ performance improved a bit--only a bit, but noticeably--after I closed the Logitech SetPoint software that came with my VX Revolution mouse. Still choppy, but less so. FWIW, I've noticed that bringing up the OD2+ Settings window is really slow, taking several seconds to appear (maybe 5?), then then stuttering badly in any interaction.
my setpiont isn't running although i have it installed for my anywhereMX mouse. i am going to reformat my laptop today and put OD2 on first and see what happens

not sure i follow that? it still opens the libraries with everything contained in it, just as windows does.

True as you say! Just would be nice when using the add shorcut feature in the program if there was someway to point it to the libraries. ![]()

Haven't seen this posted so...Will the UI be skinned by WindowBlinds on the release version? An option to disable the default skin (as in Impulse) would be great.
I'm still getting a "feel" for OD2 but the above aside it sure looks much better.

Thanks, I'll try that when I get home.

no options to use icons under 32 pixels, When i first installed OD 2 my tabbed docks size were described as tiny. as soon as i looked at the size options the icon size changed to 32 pixels and wouldn't allow me to change back to the way they were. also i get the + and - in my docks regardless of size of contents. So far not really impressed with OD 2. Yes it has reflections and blur but a lot of options are just not there anymore. This is more of a downgrade than an upgrade i am sorry to say. Hopefully this will be sorted as the beta continues.

Is there a particular place we can post wishlist items?

2. Start a "Make An OD+3 Wish" thread.
3. The old (best) way: "Bribe a Mod (make the checks payable to Jafo)" or "Beer and Pizza for Jeff" thread.

Possible bug: Running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, the Recycle Bin docklet will not switch back to the empty state icon when emptying the bin. This happens with both the default icons and when the icons are customized. The docklet will go from empty to full icon states but not back when emptied.

I can also confirm that none of the custom plus/minus images are working. ![]()

4. Icons created by Steam will only show the Steam icon not the games icon (did this in old version also) If you add thme to a dock the all look the same.
Since games are run by starting steam, they always show the Steam icons as default. I had to go in and change the icons by right clicking, edit icon, and changing the icon to the one in the related directory for the game in the steam\steamapps directory. Also some very nice icon collections here for many games old and new. (Not sure if there is a way to fix this, since games under steam are run using steam.exe -####### where the ### is some numbering system for each game created by Valve.)
I know i can do it manually but its a pain man! ![]()
Desktop icons that Steam creates are just like normal and point to the proper icon although the icon target is in the properties under icon are not in the target directory luanching exe.
Maybe a little bit of added code could extract it if the target directory is Steam or the app is Steam.exe. as it is now when I drag those to OD they turn to Steam icons.
If Steam.exe
get icon path,
done. ![]()
Thanks for listening

That and the start menu needs to be where it always is.
Never mind I found the option to move the task bar to the left![]()

just an update on my performance issues, fresh reformat, works smooth as butter. i haven't installed video drivers yet, but i'm hoping it stays this way
Reply #138 Thursday, April 1, 2010 10:57 PM
That's great! Too bad reformatting isn't really a practical option for me, but I'm glad it's working well for you. Just wish I knew what was causing the problem for me.

Running on Win7 x64 Home Premium, Intel E8400 CPU, ATI HD4890 gfx card.
+1 for the Steam system tray icon not functioning correctly wrt right clicking or left clicking to restore.
Windows update icon does not display in the system tray at all even when configured to do so. Actually this appears to relate to all Windows based system tray icons. Network, volume control etc.
System tray icons do not respond reliably to a mouseover.
Startup performance is appalling - I though 1.9 was slow but 2.0 takes even longer to start.
The "Accessibility" setting of "Keep on Bottom" actually keeps the dock on *top* - possibly because I have a second dock at the top of the screen set to that value. FWIW the "Always on Top" option for this second dock does not always function correctly - but then it did not function reliably in 1.9 either.

Also when i create a new dock i cant move it to my secondary monitor.....i click "monitor 2" and nothing happens.......this is annoying

Yeah, I really don't see any need in making OD a 64bit app (and make things even more complicated for Jeff) unless someone explains the benefits to me. You don't need 64bit in any case if there is no benefit.
