Will the icon quality for system folders be improved? Because the are really blurry.

I'm Running Vista Home Premium 3Gb Ram.

I recently switched to running a top taskbar and have two docks on screen a 7 tabbed dock on top and a zoomer at the bottom.

I have hidden the tabbed dock as I don't want to use it at the moment. I found that if you mouse to the top edge of the screen the icon label for the active but hidden tab appears and will not disappear untill docks are unloaded, or the hidden dock is shown and a new mouse over applied.

Submitted for your information

My own personal fix is have a blank tab on the dock and make sure that is selected when the dock is hidden

Great job on this beta, love the reflections in the docks, but would like to be able to size the reflection as sometimes tabbed docks can look quite big (my only gripe)

"Issues found so far"

I just installed V2 a few hours ago and have a few questions.

   1. V2 appears not to be a completely separate installation from V1. How can I uninstall V1 safely?
   2. I have some home-grown cmd files that require they be run  as adminstrator. I used to right-click and choose run as administrator. This is no longer there on a right-click in V2. I need it.
   3. I cannot find anywhere where the "running programs indicator" is defined. Is it no longer supported?
   4. Startup should go under HKCU:Run rather than the StartUp Group (I turned off the settings option to load OD at startup, deleted the shortcut out of the startup user's group, and created the entry in HKCU:Run to accomplish this)

As previously described here: https://forums.stardock.com/383357

Before this reaches final release can we get an option to show text labels in zoomer docks instead of them only being visible during hover.

For anyone that is having trouble with monitor selection what I did to remedy the problem:

  1. Uninstall secondary monitor and video card drivers in device manager
  2. shutdown
  3. disconnect secondary monitor
  4. turn comp back on install VC drivers
  5. restart
  6. shut down
  7. connect sec. mon.
  8. start and place docks as desired

This bug is not isolated to OD2 I had the same problem with Actual Window Manager as the monitors were shown opposite of what Windows/NVCP reported.

Another addendum to a new improved colorize section (equivalent to that of WB): the ability to select "none" again in the color drop down and an option to apply the same color to ALL tabs at once instead of having to do them individually. This can be really tedious, especially when they're all custom colors and you have to go in and edit the RGB values for every tab.

Upgraded to v2

My settings seems to cause an error somewhere in objectdock, the actual message is:

Debug Error!

Program: C:\Program Files(x86)\Stardock\ObjectDockPlus2\Object2.exe

Module: C:\Program Files(x86)\Stardock\ObjectDockPlus2\Object2.exe

File:

Run-Time Check Failure #2 - Stack around the variable 'szType' was corrupted.

Symptom:  Cannot open OD2 settings (either from the actual dock, or from the tray icon) it says "Please open ObjectDock before trying to configure it"

I've tried removing my settings and relaunch OD2 and it loads fine without the error. Tried resetting settings and reinstalling my own ini's againOD2 gives again the same error.

I wonder where is the new log file, the last log I found was on User\AppData\Roaming\Stardock\ObjectDockPlus\ and the date in the log refers to March (so I assume this is the old log)

I am on Windows 7 x64bit

Here are my zipped settings:

I'd like devs to focus on this bug

this is not happening in W7 32 bit OS but just in W7 64bit.

if we try to force an icon change we get the error message

'OD cannot access information about this window. it is likely that it has been ran as Administrator while OD has not'

all system icons are blurred.

there should be a fast workaround for this. I paid for OD2 but I'm using Nexus Dock that has not the issue.

to all developers, would you be so kind as to give us a fast (registry?) solution?

thank you in advance.

Someone else posted some great ideas at the link below. A few of them have already been mentioned; just thought I'd stick it in here.

Anyway, this is probably way more info than any of you guys were looking for but it gives you a peek inside.

That was actually very helpful. Since beta testing Windows 7, I have started to beta test a lot more, and I can appreciate the problems you have. This makes it a lot easier to understand why it is taking a while. The current ObjectDock beta is very good, and works pretty much flawlessly on Windows 7 x64 that I run.

It is good to know, that all development isn't dead, and that you are giving feedback and replying to questions.

!! ANNOYING BUG !!

I have just installed Beta 2 on my Windows 7 x64 host.

I switched to beta 2 because I need Systray to be available in my dock bar ; so no way to use 1.9.

Now the bug : when ObjectDock is running, using tabs in Opera and Skype windows freezes this applicaiton. I guess it would be the same with any other apps having their own tabs. As soon as I close ObjectDock, tabs are working fine...

Hard to know where to start to understand this issue.

I noticed that when I click on one of the tabs in Opera/Skype, this application starts to use about 30% of CPU and this application remains somehow frozen. It happens that after a couple of minutes, the requested is displayed and the application works normally... until I click on another tab. As for ObjectDock no suspicious CPU usage..

Anyone experiencing the same ?

Same with me, I can not use the current skype versions, and I couldn't with ObjectDock 1.x either. It's all working very well with skype 3.8 though... I'm working on a WinXP professional 32bit system.

I have tried ObjectDock 1.90 Plus. And same problem : it is getting tabs frozen in application like Opera, Skype... But it seems there is no problem with IE8 tabs...

This is really a very HUGE problem !!!

What could be the use of a dock if you cannot use your apps anymore ?!!!

First of all, I love all the new features in 2.0!! However, I'm running 2 monitors on my system; I've already created 2 docks on the primary and now I'm wanting to add a 3rd and maybe even a 4th dock, but I want those to be on my 2nd monitor. When I create the new dock, I go to the position settings and tell it to go to the 2nd monitor and it doesn't go; the check box stays on primary and leaves it on top of my existing docks. Please help!

Excellent work - Very pleased with new interface

Win 7 64-bit

A few issues found: Stacks - does not display icon of folder, and crashes frequently. I tried making a simple utilities folder with 'stacks' and it would crash. AN even simpler "games" folder crashed as well...

Must use multiple zoomer docks to achive taskbar replacement - the systray functionality is very buggy. Cannot choose to hide certain items, must choose display all in order to see any.

Some systray utilities (right click functionality, mostly) will not open when windows taskbar is hidden. These menus are not disable when the taskbar is hidden, as there are other ways to call the menus without unhiding the taskbar.

Very new to Object Dock 2, didn't realize it was still in Beta ... Having some issues creating shortcuts to such things as Windows Explorer, Game Controllers, Sound Etc ... Seems that the shortcut can be created and clicked on once only, when trying the 2nd time, nothing happens, however a right click on the icon brings up a shell type menu that will allow opening of programs/feature associated with the shortcut.

Basically I'm trying to compensate for the loss of the Quick Launch that I was so used to from Vista

Running OD2 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, my initial post is here: https://forums.wincustomize.com/386635/#2672886

Hopefully I'm doing something wrong ...

Thanks so much for that link, I'll be re-anabling that for sure

I did head up to a buddys place this mornin' who's using OD 1.9, I tried the same thing for Explorer with 1.9 and it works just fine, so it looks like a bug in version 2.0

Hopefully they get it fixed up soon
