New Nintendo Screenshots at Pixtudio

Saturday, January 25, 2003 by koop | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Treetog and Alexandrie have created some wonderful desktop themes for Nintendo of Europe. They have posted new screenshots at the Pixtudio site.

Only people who buy and register a Nintendo game or console in Europe have been able to download these wonderful themes, so it is a bit of a "tease." But it does show how skinning can be an integral part of a successful marketing campaign.

Special thanks to Pedro Sanudo of Nintendo for his permissions!

Checked out the skins and they are really nice. It really blows that these themes are limited to Nintendo consumers but it is even worse that it is limited to just Europe countries.

Anyone got any ideas on how we'll be able to get hold of them? I've got the Gamecube and Super Mario Sunshine one's, but to get them we had to buy the game/system, and I already own pikmin & eternal darkness. But these styles have not yet been offered to me....

wow, what is up with the recent posts being deleted? wincustomize is based in the us correct? freedom of speech? Seriously not trying to sound like an ass, but it is a clear fact that actual Cube owners, with owners of these games, get nothing due to what?

OK...ladies and gentlemen....

It has come to pass that certain people are trying to violate Artists' copyright by 'obtaining' these works unlawfully, and voicing their requests here, publicly.

Only one warning, my lads and lassies.

It shall not be tolerated, M-Kay?

No 'Ifs', no 'Buts'.....no argument... >

'Freedom of Speech' is almost always mis-quoted.

You are not covered by the US Constitution to request the unlawful distribution of a product.
That is either referred to as 'handling' or 'receiving' stolen goods and is a penal offence....in many more places than just the US.

The works by Pixtudio, [two admins on this, same site], were commissioned by Nintendo, and are therefore subsequently Licenced to Nintendo for distribution.
If you are 'Nintendo' then you are legally entitled by such Licence to distribute that 'product' as and where you deem fit.
The artist may retain specific rights to 'display' or perhaps provide alternate distribution, but in this case it appears that Nintendo has retained sole rights.

This is the 'real world' [tm], where 'seeing' a Ferrari, but not having 'access' to it does NOT entitle you to STEAL it.

"You are not covered by the US Constitution to request the unlawful distribution of a product." Not a single soul in the United States can be arrest for a requesting. You guys have every right to delete any posts that you deemed unfit, but not once did I request anything, yet 2 of my posts were deleted.

I said no 'Buts'.

The comments removed either requested files or offered them.
As you see, others of yours are still there, as they specifically are OK.

We are obliged to protect Artists' and Intellectual copyrights...to the best of our ability.
If that necessitates the removal of comments and/or people, then so be it.

It is a non-negotiable stance, sorry.

I took note of 4 names, yours was not one of them.

Carlos....what would be the outcome of standing on a US public street corner requesting all and sundry to execute the US President?

Aiding and abetting a crime is also a crime....incitement to commit a crime or facillitating its undertaking is likewise.

By Wincustomize.com publicly allowing requests in this news post for public distribution of a product without license, we would be guilty of facillitating the act.

Removal of the requests and subsequent responses was/is the only legitimate recourse.

nguyenhuy81....ah, but there you are wrong.
It IS 'our business'.
Any graphics stolen from Nintendo, created by Pixtudio devalue their worth.
And since the principals of Pixtudio are admins on this site, then so, too does Wincustomize.com 'suffer'.

Failure to maintain control of corporate copyright and Intellectual property will ultimately spell the death of a site, a 'hobby', a community.

Someone must give a damn, or else.
