Poll Result: Which dock do you prefer?

Sunday, December 22, 2002 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

This site tends to favor Stardock's software so it's no surprise that ObjectDock carried the day as the favorite Windows dock program. But the same poll on deviantART had similar results.

ObjectDock: 40%
y'Z dock: 6%
Mobydock: 2%

But most people didn't care: 52% of responders either hadn't heard of these docks or didn't care.

I've tried them all and I agree with the poll. ObjectDock is cleary the best dock IMO, but Y'z dock is a CLOSE second. Keep up the good work on this dock!

I have used them all and I like ObjectDock, I hope they (stardock) continue to upgrade and turn this into another great module and add it to the desktop collection or as a stand alone, I'd buy it no matter the price. (within limits, I would not pay a thousand dollars for it, but I would pay $50.00)

I guess my comments are not related to any of these docks. I was wondering if there is a way to see the ongoing poll results without voting. I am sure there are folks who want to see what others have voted without themselves voting. Wouldn't it be nice to have an option - 'Not Interested'

I prefer the real OS X. Unfortunately, at work I have to settle for Objectdock although Yzdock is more accurate visually. It has a context menu for choosing options such as autohide and position of the dock.

Of the three, I have to say I preffer ObjectDock. While it doesn't have all the features of the others yet, it screems performance and then some. Considering that all three are in early stages of development, they may all end up the same, none beeing better than any other. For now, performance is what I'm looking for.

On features, I hope that Stardock won't stop with the current featureset. The performance and smoothness of the animations is important, but I would also like to see at least all the same features as the real OSX dock, and perhaps more features. It would be nice to have the option of dragging ObjectDock and sliding it along the edge, or moving it to another edge. It would also be nice for each icon to have a context menu. Another feature I'd like to see is the ability to configure multiple docks. For users with multiple screens, it would be handy to have multiple docks with different sets of icons.

Thanks for a great tool, Stardock.
