Which is quite surprising. This begs the question, has the time come to start delivering software on DVD rather than multiple CDs?

YES YES YES. I WISH companies would start delivering software on DVDs. PC magazines in the UK routinely come in two versions: one with a CD cover disk, one with a DVD cover disk (and they have done for over two years now). If magazines see a market for it, what on earth are software companies playing at?
'course PC magazines here in the US don't normally ship with cover disks at all - perhaps because there's more broadband over here, but that's an entirely different poll!

I've seen IBM and Microsoft offering some of their multi-CD software suites on DVD. Technet can be purchased on DVD now, too.

Heck no! People aswering the polls on this site have quite a different profile than people in general. We already know that users here make more money and have bigger computers than most "normal" computer users.
The actual number of people with a DVD player on their puter is probably the other way around.

I make decent money and I have a very beefy computer that I built myself. I have found no need to add a DVD player to my system because I already have a DVD player hooked up to my entertainment system. Why watch movies on a little 22" display when I can watch it a theatre style TV?
I still don't get the whole DVD drive for computers yet.

So that you could have a single DVD for games or for other data rather than several CDs.
It takes 4 CDs to cover the new WinCustomize submissions for 2002. One DVD would do the whole thing.

I must say I feel the same. I don't see much use for a DVD player in my computer yet. Maybe in one or two years, but right now, it's pretty much useless. I have a DVD player on my computer at work and in the 18 months I've had it, I have never used it, not even once.
Needless to say, I don't have one on my home machine.
Brad, I can only suggest you do like when CD-Rom started picking up when spftware were availble on CD or on disquettes. Offer the choice for either.

I see no reason to watch a DVD movie on my computer when I can see it on my big screen TV with surround sound.

Yes, I would like to see multi-cd programs offered as DVD. I already get software like Technet (mentioned above) and MSDN delivered on DVD and its very convenient.
However, I don't know what the price point is between DVD and CD media and the cost to produce them. So that would probably be the deciding factor of when to start offering software on DVD.
Also, the reason I got a DVD for my computer was not for watching Movies, although I have done that, it was for the larger storage capacity.

You'll notice that if you ask if they have CD drives, it'll be 100% yes and 0% no
Then again, do you know of any software that's even close to the 5gb of space a DVD provides? Some even up to 16gb?
