How come I can't turn of notify messages?

Notify me by email when my skins have new activity.-the message
In my user settings there is a box to check for not reciving messages but I just can't check it.When I click it nothing happens it just stays blank.I tryed in 3 different explorers and nothing.The email messages are just annoying.
