First, the URL is not correct.

you have http://ftp://files.3dnews.ru/pub/drivers/nvidia/40.41_winxp.exe

it should be
ftp://files.3dnews.ru/pub/drivers/nvidia/40.41_winxp.exe

Also , i didnt see anything on the NVIDIA site about the updated drivers..

Hmm, when I try to click the NVidia tab for my card in display properties it gives me an error (in desk.cpl)on W2k and simply does nothing (quits display properties) on XP. Any other experience this ?

I had this problem, so I tried the following:

Unistall current drivers, reboot, clean the registry with a program like reg cleaner, reboot and install.

c242: I had exactly these problems on 2K and XP. Also WindowFX caused Explorer to crash and never started with these drivers. I am currently reformatting my hard disk and reinstalling XP to make sure it's not just my hard disk (which reported SMART errors earlier this week) which is affecting it. Your report makes me sceptical though.

Thanks for telling me about the new drivers. On my P4 2.2 Ghz running WinXP Pro machine it made my video load up about 30% faster with so far, no other problems. Thanks...

Tarkus - thanks for the update, I did not see the link on NVIDIA before hand.

I loaded the drivers and have had no problems with is so far (WinXP Pro)
I run ObjectBar, WindowBlinds, DesktopX
I have also 'seemingly' noticed some improvements in gameplay (MOHAA).

OK now NVidia says that there is a huge bug in these new drivers (They do not work properly on some videocards)
What are these videocards, they don`t say.

I run W2K SP3 w/VisionTek GeForce4 MX 420. I loaded the 40.41 driver and I had a BIG loss in performance. Like Komarino, When I tried running older games (versions less than 6 months old) The games would hang. Also In the advanced settings card tab, the 'new' window would not show. I went back to 31.00. It works fine for me.

I think these New drivers are great so far, best set since 23.11 still testing......... with DX OB WB FX & 2d to 3d is incredibly fast.

These new control panels are really funky & very stylish

and openGL1.4 seems neat new image quality & life like, WFX is great under these i really dont want to go to older versions as they dont fix WFX.

Nutshell - If you follow the standard driver links, it won't show. You have to click on the Detonator4 option to get to it. I'm talking about the middle of the three panes you get on the driver selection page.

c242: All working fine here now after reinstalling XP and 2K. Must have been some sort of conflict with something else here.

I'm also experiencing the problem with the Nvidia tab in the display properties whenever I click on it there is a message about an error in desk.cpl. Deleting the key

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\Display\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers\NVIDIA CPL Extension]

from the registry simply lets the Nvidia tab disappear from the display properties. Also, I don't believe in a false entry in the registry.
If I try to start c:\winnt\system32\nvtuicpl.cpl
(that's the nView Desktop-Manager) manually then
first it looks like and second it crashes
whenever I click on te tab Hotkeys. So it may be
a wrong lib??? Any hint?
