WindowFX 2 Sneak Preview!

Sunday, June 16, 2002 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

A few people in the media who have seen WindowFX 2 in action have commented that this might be Stardock's Killer App of 2002. WindowFX 2 integrates Direct3D into the Windows desktop seamlessly to give users special effects that make what's on MacOS X look easy.

Check out the rough draft of the media guide.

A-on3: it's Universe from Pixtudio.
You can buy the whole suite for only 8$ on their web site: http://www.pixtudio.com/

i'm using 1.90g, and it seems quite fun
the state transitions are unusable though, and for some odd reason, it says that my Geforce 3 has a problem wiht its drivers that will significantly slow down transition effects.... i'm using detonators (28.32). if anyone has the new ones, tell me if it still says the same thing
other than that, this program rocks! almost no other slowdowns at all.. quite fun

It mentions the drivers because they really are causing transition effects to crawl on nvidia cards. We felt it was wise to inform the user so they didn't start to blame stardock for a driver issue.

Currently nvidia have not released any drivers which resolve this issue, but we hope they will do so soon (they are aware of the issue)

So, just curious, what kind of a graphic card do you need to run WinFX with no lag? I don't have a cheap video card, I still paid around 375$ CAN for it (I think it's about 250$ US). Is it just a driver issue? Or do I need a 500$ video card?

It is just a driver issue. I can tell you from first-hand experience that a GF4 Ti 4600 is no better.

I remember seeing something about this in stardock's newsletter but I don't see a download available from component manager, what gives?
