...Another Man's Treasure
What have You found?????
Thursday, February 4, 2010 by bk13GarbageMan | Discussion: Community
I'm sure that most of You have heard the phrase " One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure " ....... have You ever walked past the neighbors trash and thought to Yourself 'that would look great in the living room' or stopped the car because You spotted an antique at a yard sale ??? I thought it might be interesting to see what treasures You have found. As You might imagine I see all kinds of stuff in My line of work
anyway......please feel free to share Your treasures, include discarded items ( don't be embarrassed, leave Your pride at the door, be one with Your inner garbageman!
) yard sale or flea market finds ( if possible include an approximate value for the item and what You actually paid ) I hope that some of You might want to participate. ![]()

About a month ago, a friend of mine dumped a pail into the truck, it had a 8Gb ipod touch in it. He charged it and it works, there is nothing wrong with it.........too bad I was driving for that block instead of loading.
.........still a good find for him though. ![]()

Fred, it might have been put in the pail by a pissed parent...not necessarily because it was "broken". ![]()

I thought of that, and maybe someone just dropped it as they were putting out the trash, however it ended up in there it was a great find! ![]()

During my years of doing deliveries at night I would always come across something that was thrown out for really dumb reason...like a broken cord...missing wheel...things like that. So I would just take them home fix them up and give them away to someone that needed them.
One night in particular while doing a delivery to a courthouse...I saw that they had thrown out a bunch of office stuff that was practically brand new...go figure right! Well...when I say they were throwing out a bunch of stuff...that was pretty much everything that was in the offices they had remodeled the previous year...and I mean everything. I alone wound up with 6 office chairs in perfect condition that would easily sell for a few hundred bucks each...gave 4 away and kept 2 which are really nice. Also modular office desks with divider walls...tables...and a huge floor to ceiling index section that was completely motorized. I loaded up everything I could...which took 2 nights and gave everything away to offices I knew could use the stuff.
I just hate seeing waste like that.

"Taxpayer money". Glad you posted this WG. I was amazed when you told me the story....it's also great you do that for folks. That's major karma for you (the real life variety). Bless the 'fixers'!.
Too bad they didn't take you down to the Gulf. Bet it'd be long fixed by now.
