scruf....words are inadequate, but good thoughts and prayers never are. So they're given freely to your father and you. Grieve the way your grief dictates....help and love your father.

I know you pain since my wife passed. You will need support as I know this is so hard for you however not taking anything away from your pain your father is going to need more than one can imagine and you will have to be a big part of that. Be strong for yourself and your father. Grieving does it's own thing and sometimes it controls you. As Doc says it best "Grieve the way your grief dictates" The tears will roll down your face and let them as they are rolling down mine now. God bless you, your father and the entire family. Nothing more I can say will help your pain and sorrow except to take each minute, hour, and day as they come and gain a small amount of strength from each.

I would like to add that Doc, during a phone conversation with him gave me those words as he has been through it and I live by them and don't fight the grief when it comes on. It still comes to often but I just let the tears flow and let it do it thing so to speak.

It's a horrible thing to have to go through, especially for your father. My parents were together 58 years when my father died. All of the sudden, there is a huge emptiness. As everybody is saying, all you can do is endure it and let time pass. My best wishes to you and your father.
