SkinStudio XP

Monday, May 13, 2002 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Not a day goes by where we don't get an email that goes like this: "I downloaded WindowBlinds but how do I create my own skins for it?" Or "I downloaded SkinStudio but how do I get it to apply my skins?"

So we decided to create a single package for Windows XP users (which cuts the size down - it's only 4 megabytes in the combined package and it includes several WB visual styles too).

Now users can download and install it and be all ready to add any of the thousands of WindowBlinds skins/visual styles as well as well as create them.

The full version is only $29.95 and the full version of SkinStudio XP not only has all the features of the full version of WindowBlinds but also the not so well known features of SkinStudio Pro such as the ability to create your own personal visual style by mixing and matching pieces from other visual styles as well as using GUI widgets created by Treetog, Alexandrie, and others.

I think he was talking about the Skinstudio XP, not the separate packages.

If you have ODNT, you don''t need SkinStudioXP.

Shouldn''t SkinStudio XP at least be offered to those who have ODNT? >

As far as I know it''s exactly the same thing as installing WindowBlinds and SkinStudio from ODNT (although I could be mistaken). Look on your appearance tab - you already have add, edit and delete. It''s just marketing/a way to get people to register both at once.

30 bucks is a lot to spend on this program. I think it is both a good idea and a dumb idea. I have one skin , 2 ODNT products and am happy . I would like that universemetal skin though...

I actually am not happy with Objectbar. A friend hated it and gave it to me and I like it, though I can''t get the thing updated to the latest version because he died in a car wreck in back January and I don''t know what email he used to register it with.

I purchased in April the beta and later got the release 1.90.

After installing version 2.0 I could see no huge difference, it could be my imagination but it did seem a bit faster.

I should I feel get a free upgrade to it, @ the moment I don''t need it.
I used system restore and went a day back to get the old version back.

Although It now reads 1.90 pro XP
nothing changed including the tool bar layout which changed installing 2.0, I also have some added widgets(sp) that came with 2.0.

I''d still like the upgrade though

Regards!

SkinStudioXP is Windowblinds 3 and Skinstudio 1.9, so if you have ODNT just download these two products and you got it.

I''m very new to this site, so would someone explain to me what ODNT stands for? And, do you have to download/purchase the Skinstudio before you can download any of the wonderful skins?

You don''t need to have Skinstudio to use the skins; you need it if you want to alter or create skins. You just need Windowblinds 3x to use the skins. However, if you think you may ever want to alter skins (easily), you might consider getting SkinStudio XP, which is both SkinStudio and Windowblinds wrapped into one cool program.

Doris - ODNT stands for Object Desktop Network. You can read more about it at this link:

https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/

I''m on my second year''s subscription on the suite of products. I must say that it''s work the 50 bucks. I use WindowBlinds (WB), IconPackager (IP), ObjectBar (OB) and/or DesktopX (DX) every day, depending on the theme. The fact that I use WinStyles often is no-brainer as well; it''s so nice to click one button and have a completely revamped look for my desktop, newly skinned ICQ experience and Winamp skin. I mean, the list of supported apps for WinStyles is long, but you get the idea.

I don''t think there''s a better combination of desktop enhancement software out there than ODNT - truly.

What''s with the double quotes instead of single quotes guys? I''m not unedumacated; I know I didn''t type all those. Eh, there''s probabaly and article on WC.com that I''ve overlooked or something about it. Is it a problem with the SkinBrowser, Treetog? Do ya know?

Oh, and not "work" but "worth" (in my previous post *wink*) .
