Latest WindowBlinds Skins for Windows 7

Tuesday, January 26, 2010 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize News

There have been more than a few new and updated skins for WindowBlinds this past week.  It’s great to see more and more WB skins being created/updated to work with Windows 7!  Sometimes it’s easy to miss them when a bunch of skins are coming in, so here is a quick recap of the latest!

skins may work on windows 7 but unless there's a dedicated subskin which has the windows 7 specific features such as an expanding start menu and glowing taskbar buttons, the skin isn't a windows 7 skin. sorry if anyone is offended. i honestly don't mean to upset anyone.

glowing taskbar buttons

Glowing taskbar buttons don't always look good on every skin, Pas. I don't feel that should be a "requirement"

guys, like i said, they may work on win7. that doesn't make them a win7 skin in my opinion. as it usually is around here, i'm sure to be in the minority on this. the expanding start menu and glowing taskbar buttons are two of the features of win7 that stand out to most new users. i build quite a few new rigs each week and darn near everyone who has seen win7 for the first time remark about those two particular features. i don't point these features out to users, either. i highlight things like aero-snap. the users find the taskbar/start menu features on their own. one of the first things i do after getting the rig set up and online is show them Wincustomize. i then try to convince them to get WB. again, i do not mean to offend anyone. i apologize if i have.

If it works well with Windows 7, I think that is all most people care about.  The semantics about what is and what isn't a "technical" Win7 skin are not cared about by most people I would figure.

like i said, i'm sure i'm in the minority. but to me, if it doesn't have the features of a windows 7 aero skin, it isn't a windows 7 skin. i know certain people will disagree with me but there are certain things to be expected in a 'windows 7' skin, in my opinion. since i am not, nor have i ever been a skinner, my opinion shouldn't carry much weight anywhere except inside the walls of my abode. again, i apologize if i've offended anyone. that is not my intention.

i won't complain about any gifted visual style which claims window 7 status and is incomplete as far as skinning some windows 7 features is concerned but i will expect any new master skin to blanket the possibilities.
