XPBar released

Friday, March 29, 2002 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Have Windows 98, ME, NT, or 2000 but want to have the new Windows XP Start bar both in look and in functionality?

Download XPBar, a program that will do just that. XPBar is a stripped down version of ObjectBar that focuses on handling the XP Start bar for non-XP users. Grab it now.

ObjectBar - $19.95
XPBar - is a stripped down version of ObjectBar $ 19.95
Having your desktop look like XP - Priceless

Frogboy,
Am I missing something here. Why would you want to buy a stripped down version of something when the full version with updates is the same price.

What you actually buy is ObjectBar. XPBar is ObjectBar with the XP theme. It's just an alternative way of making the shareware version available.

If you are going to spend the money, spend it on ObjectBar,not this. This is a stripped down ObjectBar,not what you want when U can get the full thing.Don't know why they would do this.Makes no sense to me.I guess it's another money grab.

Sigh. You can't acutally buy XPBar. You buy ObjectBar. You should have tried downloading it before judging it.

So if you also have windowblinds, do you use the XP skins, and does it skin the objectbar part?

WindowBlinds skins windows. On XP it can also skin the XP taskbar, so in this specific case having OB is not necessary - just use WB with a Luna-style XP skin. ObjectBar can do a lot more than WB can do in the area of bars, though, and is more flexible, and of course it does it on all versions of Windows (so you can have the XP look on 9x).

Bad move... A lot of casual users just want the XP bar. If you let them have it with the shareware version, I think less people will register, even though they can have access to dozens of different bars once they do.

Personally, I'd keep the OB shareware the same as it always was, and dangle the XP bar as an incentive to register.

Or at least disable the integration with WB.

, any skin will work with this! Stardock shood have put a 30day trial or somethnig on this beause this has too great a potential to be cracked... but when they say stripped down they meen it! It is well worth it to buy ObjectBar.

Also...

IconPackager screwed up some of my icons, so, how do I get them back to normal?

Well I DID download it first frogman. And I DO have ObjectBar and it turned my Full ObjectBar into a shareware version of XP BAR.It's crap and I stand by what I said before. If you have ObjectBar stay away from XP Bar.It is not worth the download or the time it takes to download it (approx 30 seconds)!

So why did you download XPBar if you have ObjectBar? It clearly states that it IS ObjectBar (a stripped down version of it).

Enough! If you already have ObjectBar, don't download XP Bar. If you don't have either, download some Object Desktop trial versions and if you like them, suck it up and buy Object Desktop. You won't be disappointed.

But WindowBlinds and ObjectBar are the only quote "useful" unquote things in ObjectDesktop.

XPBar is just a 30 day trial version of ObjectBar. That is common practice in ShareWareLand and a nice way to give people the chance of trying before buying.

The fact that it is offered doesn't mean you have to download it.
