Ideas for a Community Theme Project - Valentines Day Edition
Tuesday, December 29, 2009 by Philly0381 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Okay folks, taking up from where Island Dog left off, Ideas for a Community Theme Project - Holiday Edition, I thought it would be nice to continue this with a Valentines Day Theme.
I haven't jumped out here and taken responsiblity for much of anything so i thought it would be nice to take the lead for a ommunioty project for a Holiday Theme.
What do you say?
My idea, subject to further input from the community.
Valentines Day Theme Pack with a Dream as being the core for the Theme
This would include at the minimum: (updated to show skin volunteers)
•WindowBlinds theme (for XP, Vista and Win 7) - k10w3
•DesktopX Theme - RedneckDude
•DesktopX Widgets - RedneckDude
•CursorFX theme - Vampothika
•Dream - CarGuy1
•Rainlendar - RedneckDude
•RightClick Skin - Nimbin
•ScreenSaver Skin (based on the Dream) - CarGuy1
•Icons (IP or just some dock icons) - Vampothika
•Object Dock backgound - RedneckDude, DisturbedComputer
•Wallpaper (based on the Dream) - CarGuy1
•Logons (based on the Dream) - CarGuy1
•BootSkins (based on the Dream) - CarGuy1
(If you would like to do a skin that is not listed please leave a comment on the thread)
At the end this would all be wrapped up in a Theme Manager suite, I have to do something.
We need ideas for a unique name plus design ideas for the Dream. If someone is all ready working on a Dream, all the more better.
Now, I'm a non-skinner so you folks need to let me know if there is enough time to pull this together for Valentines day. We are only talking a little more than five weeks as we should have it done in time for folks to use the theme. In that line of thinking the Theme probably should not just say Happy Valentines Day in words but show more of what Valentines Day means between two people who care about one another, if that makes sense.
Okay, so lets hear your thoughts.

You mean the mouseover arrow, or the item mouseover? Here's a shot with the regular menu at the far left, mouseover arrow in the middle (broken heart) and item mouseover on the far right.

Item mouseover is what I need. I hadn't seen it yet. Thanks!

Jim, I'm just going to e-mail you the .wba that I have so far, so you can grab any of the little things you might need. I'm almost done with XP -- just working on those IE-icons (pain...and I don't even know how many people actually SEE them -- who uses IE6?), and I have a few Win7 things skinned because I've been wearing this now since I got the frame and start panel working so I could test for bugs and ickies. So far, to my aging eyes, it's a pretty good skin.

Thanks, Karen! That helps me get the feel too, if I can run the blind as I work on it. It looks good on 7 so far.

Karen,
How about sending it to me as well. I want to make sure the stuff I'm working on is the right shade of red. I'm going to PM you my email address.

You folks make it very easy for me, thank you. ![]()
I may even start thinking of a new theme for a community project. ![]()

Looking very good Jim. ![]()
No name as of yet, remember I wanted dollies so I guess my suggestions would be too 'prissy' or 'soppy'

We need a volunteer to pick up doing the Cursor and Icons for the theme.
If you know of someone that might want to volunteer please pass them the link to this thread.
EDIT: Well maybe not, need to check on Vampothika status.

Karen....do you want to post here to give all of us permission to use the graphics you uploaded, or do it via email to each seperate person? I would think here would suffice.

I'll post here -- I thought with these community projects, the graphics were "open source" - everybody's stuff was open to anybody. That's how it was with the birthday suite.
I, k10w3, a/k/a Karen Lowe, hereby grant permission for all WinCustomize skinners to use the graphics from my Valentine's day Windowblind 2010 freely and unconditionally.
That should cover it. ![]()

Karen, what does the start panel mouseover look like?
Is it named yet? Valentino?
