Explorer Problem

Wednesday, December 16, 2009 by angus1949 | Discussion: WindowBlinds

After some recent Stardock product updates I am getting a message from my firewall program that wblind.dll wants to remotely control explorer.exe.  I have never had this warning message before.  Is this a problem?

Ed, I know you use Eset NOD32. Is this the source of the warning? If so, take a look at this Forum post: https://forums.wincustomize.com/369468

I think this might be another "false positive".

Actually my firewall and HIPs program is Online Armor.  I've used this combination for 5 years and have had few problems.

Sorry, Ed. I remembered incorrectly. Another "Club Al" moment. Could it be a false positive anyway? .dll's are updated, and maybe an updated one set off some sort of alarm?

Don't know Doc, but I get nervous when anything wants to remotely control explorer.

I can't blame you. It'd make me nervous too.

Maybe connect to SD support, and the Online Armor folks...together they might figure out what's up. I've never received any type of warning like that.

Back in '08 (LINK) you posted that the av you use is NOD32... you might have uninstalled it since, but maybe some remnant of it remained? Could that be giving the message? Just a thought from someone who knows far less about this stuff than you...

Wish I could be more of a help to you old friend...I think maybe Shirley at SD Support would be more of a help than I.

Ed, haven't see this on my XP or Win 7 sys so I going to venture to say that it's a non problem.  Have you changed any firewall settings?
