CursorEx Free 1.3 released!

Tuesday, October 9, 2001 by pjpowell | Discussion: WinCustomize News

CursorEx is a complete cursor enhancement tool with the following features above what Windows has to offer:

Per-pixel transparency allowing alphablended cursors

Realistic and completely customizable shadow

Use BMP and PNG images for your cursors

The 1.3 release adds:

- Different cursor image for when the mouse cursor is pressed.

- Optional separated resize cursors. eg separate images for North and South cursors
instead of a combined North/South one

- Many GUI improvements: XP visual style support, antialiased icons, hot spot easy configuration.

- Fixed many minor bugs and compatibility issues.

- Even better integration with the system.

- Optimized performance.

- Full PNG support (can load all PNG formats now).

- Brand new installer and uninstaller.

- Two new bundled themes: Default and Hand, both support Normal and Pressed states. Hand also has all separated resize cursors.

[Update - October 9]

A new update has just been uploaded (literally in the last 5 mins) to fix an annoying bug which appears in a couple of cases, when the screen saver starts and ends or when ctrl-alt-del is pressed. So if you downloaded already you probably want to get the updated one.

This is great. Fixes the cursors dissapearing when you switch users in XP. Just what I've been waiting on. (that and the cool trails)

This is almost tempting enough for me to run Win2000. Almost!

Works great. Had problems with earlier versions but looks great now (2K, Ati Radeon). I just wish there were a wider selection of themes out there. (Why are there none on WC? I saw the two other sites) Thanks though, love it.

I still get the cursor "on top" of OpenGL applications, which really is quite disturbing when playing games; and "disappearing" menus with WinFX enabled. Nevertheless, I'm still using it every day.

Mack: I think the version 1.3 works a lot better with games than previous versions, in any case we still work to reach full compatibility. Also by now remember that for this issue CursorEx has a quick hotkey switch (ctrl+shift+c by default) to enable/disable it.
What are the games that have problems with CursorEx, so we can directly test and work on a fix?
