Effects selections mismatched with actual selections

Im using the free version of deskscapes and will upgrade to ver 3 as soon as i figure out what works and doesnt, When i select a particular effect, the selection i apply is not the one i get. It looks to be that its about 4 choices away, ..ie ( i select snow and get sepia or i select motion blur and get invert. Anyone else seeing this? as a result, the last 4 or so selections are unavailable to me since i cant advance selections 4 times past last entry.
any help or ideas appreciated
windows 7 64 bit

It maybe that those functison don't work correctly with the free version of deskscapes. I'll try and get you an answer.
