WindowBlinds 3 to be launched from Microsoft

WindowBlinds 3 will be made generally available in mid October, just before Windows XP's launch. It will be based on a completely new architecture that is smaller and faster than previous versions of WindowBlinds.It will work on Windows 98, ME, and 2000 as well as Windows XP. On Windows XP, WindowBlinds 3 will take advantage of the new visual styles features in the OS that allow it to skin the Start menu and Start bar.
Windows XP will come with a new look known as Windows XP style along with 3 color schemes (blue, silver, and olive green). WindowBlinds 3 will allow users to add UIS (WindowBlinds) skins to the mix where they are treated as native XP visual styles.
Stardock and Microsoft worked during the beta of Windows XP to ensure compatibility for WindowBlinds 3. Stardock also worked closely with Nvidia on the new Detonator drivers. WindowBlinds 3 should work flawlessly on NVidia cards running the new drivers as well as drivers from ATI and Matrox who were also part of the WindowBlinds 3 compatibility program.
The formal WindowBlinds 3 beta program will begin on September 26 on Stardock's desktop enhancement subscription network (Object Desktop).

A Media guide for WindowBlinds 3 along with an updated white paper will be made available on September 27th. WindowBlinds 3 will contain a host of major new features over version 2 that target increasing the program's productivity and ease of use.

I am glad that MS working with Stardock team. I used to swear by OSAIX (orr something like that) for Win 3.0/3.1 that let you edit buttons and make everything 3D. Then W95 came out and poof that and Sidebar , my favorite Progman replacement went POOF! As did PC Tools desktop and Norton Desktop. Now we just nead a theme/skin swicher, as I have a hard time settling on one.

Maybe something with the nav buttons and home down the side, pull the tab and the slide up and over to the top. Also make it that the interface title bars etc, go away or go0 mostly clear and small unless we dock the cursor at the verticle nav bar.

Technocat - Convergence. That's what Convergence does. It combines many of the most popular third party Windows enhancers with what's already built in. In a single click you could make Windows look like an existing OS for instance.

I sure hope that v3 will have fixed the bugs in the WB for XP beta, which I initially installed -- big mistake -- but had to try uninstalling. I said "try" because WB refused to uninstall. After many attempts cleaning up my registry, manually deleting files, I finally had to reinstall XP (not because of WB...I wanted to install XP gold to a freshly formatted disk). Now I have a phobia of WB for XP. At the office, I use WB 2.2 on NT without much problems. But at home...I don't know if I will ever dare using WB again.

WindowBlinds doesn't mess with the registry (any more than any other program) and it can be turned off purely by uninstalling it or simply deleting the files in its directory.
