LogonStudio with Windows 7

Friday, November 13, 2009 by AzDude | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

well another week gone by and i'm finding logonstudio and win7

not getting along so well - it works half of the time as it should - no glitchs..

then other times i get an error mess. and have to shut it down a few tries

later or log off and back on then it works again ...

How is it working with the rest of you ? similar problems anyone ?

Are you referring to LogonStudio Vista? I doubt this will have full compatibility with Win7 as it was written specifically for a different OS.

Az....mine works fine also... W7Pro x32 on one puter and 7HomePremiumx64 on the other. You didn't say what your sysinfo was, but why not try uninstalling/reboot/ireinstall/reboot thru Impulse.

Also, could it be one of the programs you currently have in your boot sequence?

Try putting image file on desktop when making the logonvista and give shorter names to files without a space followed by 8 digit numbers, your paths already look very long  - some programs do not like long paths and then long file names with spaces, hyphens etc and long numbers. Use _ rather than - also , modern stuff meant to use either but often not the case. I have no problems on 2 computers in Win7 64bit Ultimate - one a 5yr old Dell ex XP with just 1 Gb RAM.

AzDude I think this is normal for using the Home premium version to have such problems. But you can try to set the program to run as an administrator in the properties and see if it resolves this. Also run in a compatibilty mode for vista on win7 may work. Here is a screenshot of what settings I'm talking about. I do not use these due to the fact I'm using win7 ultimate version.

Which edition of Win 7 shouldn't make any difference.  I'm running Win 7 Home Premium x64 and have no issues with Logonstudio at all.  It installed without issue via Impulse and creates and applies logons just fine.

Having said that, I did have issues when running the Win 7 Ultimate RC... Logonstudio would not apply or create logons and would hang indefinitely.  The fix was to uninstall then reinstall as 'administrator' in Vista mode.

Also, what Ausvet said, Logonstudio does not like commas, hyphens or overly long titles when creating... it spits the dummy and refuses to play.
