Stardock Softwares Misbehaving
Wednesday, November 11, 2009 by Elsius Saint | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
Last night I tried to get rid of Windowblinds 6 since I have Windowblind 7 installed. Uninstalled Windowblinds 6 also uninstalled version 7.
I went and download windowblinds 7. Guess who's back? Yes, you guess right! Windowblinds 6 is also showing there as installed too.
Last night I also downloaded Iconpackager 5. I thought I would see a new design and all. When I checked the about, It was still version 4. Well, pretty close to 5 at 4.9
It also deleted my OD Ultimate key after installed. It asked me to activate Iconpackager when I tried to run the program. I went and requested the key from SD support, and all went find. But There's no such thing as Iconpackager 5.
I went to impulse and I saw IconPackager 4, IconPackager 5, Windowblinds 6, Windowblinds 7, all installed. If you wanna have the latest version, You MUST keep the oldies

It's not so much that WindowBlinds 6 and IconPackager 4 are installed, but that Impulse is detecting the .exe files in the directories where those apps are installed and therefor showing them as installed. If you installed WindowBlinds 7 and IconPackager 5, those are the versions you have.

I'm at work and I can't provide system info. And yes, I have beta checked. I don't mind that ![]()

Still it would be nice if Stardock would finally get rid of that missing license bug in Impulse... Updated IconPackager today and there it was... Input of license number although everything has been installed and activated.

The manual activation with IconPackager is a known issue that will be fixed with the next public release. Until then, manually activating with your e-mail address and Object Desktop serial should get past this.

And now, what about DesktopX 4 ? that's just a shame ![]()

neophil78: What are you referring to? Any app, take DesktopX 3 for example, will have some keys/values in the registry indicating the path and executable for the app. This is what Impulse looks at when determining what is installed. If there are two apps that have the same path/executable string, Impulse will show as both of these apps installed.

WB7 depends in part on WB6 apparantly.
Did you actually download WB7 or a beta of it? Are betas checked in your Preferences menu?
Post system info...it'll help understand what's up.
