windowblinds 5.51.027 vista edition. the problem started when i ran some updates. i updated windowblinds through impulse but it didn't seem to help.

I had the same problem, opened Impulse updated to latest beta of WB and problem was fixed immediately. Do you have impulse set to show the latest beta's?

That version number is very old, are you sure you typed it correctly?
Open up WindowBlinds and copy the system information and post it here.

I had the same problem on Vista. I was never completely sure what caused it. I never particularly suspected WB - but since it was always running on the machine, I guess it's a possibility. The problem did not occur in Safe mode with Networking. I could not be bothered to trouble-shoot it since there was no other ill-effect.
Instead I rebooted in Safe mode with networking every now and then to run the updater (Note: you don't *really* need to run it any more often than once a month or once a quarter. Unless you have some very dodgy surfing habits or you have no understanding of how viruses and hacking works... )

Updates should still auto install, the issue is with the UI for you to manually select optional updates.
sureshot106: That is a very old version of WindowBlinds. Depending on when you purchased WindowBlinds 5, you may have been entitled to a free upgrade to WB6 in which case you could update to WB 6.4. If you are outside the upgrade window, I believe the upgrade to WB7 would probably be $10.

You need build 130.
Update via Impulse.

I have the same problem that shureshot reported. Windows Update fails to load when WindowBlinds is running. I have windowblinds v. 6.80 beta.062. Beta.081 is available, but when I installed it last week my Vista system went bonkers, and it took me several days and many restarts before I realized that I was okay as long as I don't install the latest WB update. Very strange.

Could you provide more information on the problem you had with the later beta?
