Xtreme

If you haven’t tried Winstep Xtreme yet, I recommend you try. I hve been using DesktopX for many years but Xtreme is awesome.
You can try it for free so you have nothing to lose.
I now prefer this to DesktopX for these reasons:
1. A Weather module that works without any registering with other sites, etc. And is very easy to configure.
2. NextStart, which is similar to Right-click but much easier and improved. You can use png files for better results and it is perfectly stable.
3. A very good Email module, again very easy to configure and works perfectly.
4. For those interested in statistics, there are modules for that also and a module for the Trashcan.
5. You have a systray !!
All this and no confusing scripts.

I have only used it for a few days but I have already made two themes. You can see them here:

DX is a super-powerful engine that can do much more than what most "skinners" use it for. It's more than weather and clocks and calendars.
I love what JCRabbit has done with winstep. I've used it for years. It complements many of Stardock's products very well.
I don't think it has to be an either/or . . it's more of what fits your needs best.

For some of us it is also about the money, there just isn't enough to have every piece of software.

You don't need every piece of software. All you need is Winstep Xtreme.

I have used Winstep Xtreme for a couple of years, in conjunction with my ObjectDesktop components and have been more than happy with the marriage between the two... it's like having the best of both worlds.
I must admit, however, that I do prefer the Xtreme weather and email modules to DX widgets... they are easy to configure and work like a charm. The CPU and RAM meters work great also, whereas I had some issues with DX CPU/RAM meters not working correctly in Vista.
In any event, Winstep Xtreme is worth every penny... as is OD.

Thank you, Gef. I've been wondering when you would realize this. I hope to see some themes from you soon! (And would gladly pay for master themes!)
