That there be a puzzlin' question fer sure, Cap'n vStyler, but I'd be say'n more than likely not, seein' as he be of the "can't we all just get along" crowd (a/k/a 'Lubber') and we pirates at heart (or hearty pirates), Arrrr more of the NOT get along sort o' folk.

Aye, but they lost the civil suit, and King won some booty thar' (3.8 million). Turns out the whole salty ordeal was a fortunate event for the man, as it made him a celebrity, and because he was a celebrity he got to be on Celebrity Rehab, and last tale's been told on the man is he's clean and sober for 10 months, givin' up on the spirits y'know, and sailin' on smoother seas. Arrrh.

That's what's called a sacrificial lamb there. If they had won the civil suit as well, there would have been more riots. Bank on it. I wonder what would have happend if the roles had been reversed. i.e. Rodney King was white and the cops were black. I bet you there wouldn't have been any riots. Bunch of sensitive pansies in this country. You can't say this, you can't say that. Don't do this, don't do that...wtf happened to us?

Some of the cops WERE black! He just figured they were afraid for their job, so he didn't blame them.
I wasn't there, so I can't say what happened, but personally, I think HE shouldn't have been drinking and driving/speeding, and THEY shouldn't have unleashed on him like that. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the cops that he sued in civil court (the ones who did the major physical abuse to him) had loved ones who were killed by drunk drivers and they would have unleashed like that on anybody with that much alcohol in their system and driving at those speeds. It was still very unprofessional of them to go off on him like that. (Note: I am not talking in pirate talk because here in Central Florida it is now 09/20, so ITLAPD is over).
