Hey Gef; it is one of those things that comes and goes, no rhyme or reason, happens to some more than others, also don't forget they are working on the new site in the background which may also affect things now and then.

Your site shows you to be a Current Customer instead of subscriber. Are you sure your WinCustomize subscription hasn't expired?

You wouldn't by any chance be using winXP?
I show up as citizen on my XP machine, but as Wizop on my Vista machine....

Go figure...

That citizen bug on logon has been around for awhile. To reset it I go to my settings then click on update.

I am a new member and purchased Object Desktop Ultimate but so far I haven't been able to download anything.  Also, I tried to buy one of gef's Desktopx themes and it won't let me.  I'm also still getting ads and I thought that by buying ODU would improve my status on this site too.

I've tried contacting Wincustomize for days with no response.   Can anyone help?  I've tried finding my answers in the forums with no success.

Thanks in advance for any help and gef, I would really like to purchase your theme if you can help.

I think it depends on browsers also. In firefox I show as citizen and I get ads, in IE8 everything is as its supposed to be.

An Object Desktop subscription and a Wincustomize subscription are two separate things.

With an Object Desktop subscription you get all of the software included in your suite and you get...

A 1-year subscription to Object Desktop.net, You not only get all of the features Object Desktop has today, but all of the features for a full year. This means all updates and new programs added to it you automatically get during that year. And what you download is yours forever. At the end of the year, you can continue your subscription or stick with what you already have.

You also get free unlimited downloads at Wincustomize for the period of your Object Desktop subscription, excluding Master Skins. Master skins are skins created by the Masters of the community that have earned the right to sell their work.

With a WinCustomize subscription you get...

  • 12 Free Skins Per Year
Free skins designed by Stardock Design, The Desktop Experience Company.
  • Ad-Free Browsing
Those annoying ad banners go away, freeing up screen space for skins.
  • No More Download Limits
Never hit a download cap again.  Download skins day and night and never worry about limits.
  • Improved Site Functionality
More skins per page, faster page loading, better experience.
  • Subscriber Discounts
Get discounts on premium skins from Master Skinners.

WinCustomize subscriptions also help pay for the servers, bandwidth and staff needed to keep the site running.

To be honest, I couldn't go back to being a non subscriber. Once you get used to the ad free 100 skins per page gallery's, it's impossible to surf the site any other way.

CarGuy1,

Thanks for the info but I've tried to purchase a subscription to Wincustomize and it won't allow me.  I pres all the buttons and underlined links but it doesn't show in my shopping cart or in any way give me a way to pay for the subscription.  It just goes in circles.  The same thing happens when I try to purchase one of gef's desktopx themes.  Nothing happens.

All that I want to do is pay for a subscription, purchase gef's theme, and be able to download other things (anything would be good at this point!!!).  And I'm receiving no customer service at all.

Thanks again for trying to help.

How to get around the "citizen bug"

1. Log on to WC on the main page (you'll be listed as citizen)

2. Click on the forums link at the top of the page

3. Read a couple of threads

4. Click on home/gallery (your rank is restored)

This is using FF 3.5.3........don't know if it works using IE

you show as a current customer so you should have no download caps for the skins for the software in ODU

try this:

go to the home page

above your name, click settings

click the cross reference with stardock account
