bsd reboots could be from marginal memory, oxidised ram contacts, marginal powersupply, even a flacky motherboard, thje easiest test is to pull the ram and re-install the ram the see if it still bsd's

I didn't have a BSOD. It just reboots. Only happened once. I could run a memtest on it.

Get rid of Nero, there are free alternatives out there. Nero is twitchy at best. Was it OEM?

lol, just kidding around. Pull the plug on Nero, especially if its a pirated version. Most pirated software contains lots of other goodies, such as keyloggers and dangerous backdoor exploit that can often cause system instability. I have Roxio but i never even use it cause I favor a free app called Infrarecorder.

Infra recorder and Audacity will do anything Nero does and it will do it for free. To top it all off, it has a much smaller footprint. so start there and see what happens. If no fix then start troubleshooting hardware.

Fuzzy - yes it's a OEM version. So should I install the Nforce drivers then use a different program? If so what one? I'm selling my old computer to aquire a legit version of Vista.

Why not Win 7 instead of Vista?

Do I need to remind the policy about warez here?  It is not tolerated at all and will result in banning.

Have you tried a different hard drive with a fresh install? Bios updates? Using proper drivers?

You are missing the point.  An illegal copy of Windows is warez, and talking about it being in your possession or with intent to download is not tolerated.

I can't wait a month to be homest. I need a better OS now. For now XP seems stable. I removed Nero. I will be installing the Nforce drivers in a few. I will update my status later.

If you want some great support, head over to the EVGA forums, we've got a lot of experience working with those nForce boards and driver issues, even if your board isn't an EVGA brand, we can probably hook you up.

My best guess is that you need a proper driver pack - the 15.xx and later nVidia driver packs are problematic.

Check out this troubleshooting FAQ I did on the EVGA forums for their 680i series.  Most, if not all of the advice there is applicable to all nForce-based motherboards.  Specifically, check out the section where I discuss getting the right drivers.

Don't be afraid to sign up an account and post your issue over there.  The forum community is absolutely wonderful and quick to reply.

Kona I also recommend that forum for your problems! Also keep the xp do not up grade to vista. The xp can be setup to work for you as you want and goggle this for burning software IMGBURN works very well and is a free program.

I'm not very fond of Nero myself. It can and does cause problems with some systems.

Just my opinion on this but it almost sounds like a bio problem. Have you installed any bio updates? Also is this a new board or what the news I'm seeing here?

This honestly sounds like an old motherboard firmware version OR bad drivers for the IDE/SCSI controller - might try a simple driver reinstall
