Active Wallpaper Idea!

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 by SoulCheese | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Okay so, I'm new to the whole customization thing, WindowsBlinds is amazing. But i wondered if it was possible too...

Make this my wallpaper!

I think it's the coolest idea. And having that as an active wallpaper would be bada$$!

Any ideas on how this would be done, if it's possible at all, and what I might need to make it happen?

I have to agree, it is very cool. Not quite sure yet how to do it. Since it keeps time it couldn't be done as a video dream. Possibly as a dynamic dream but since the SDK hasn't been released yet, I can't say for sure.

The man to ask would be Neil Banfield.

I wouldn't expect something like this for free, but it would make a great master dream.

The SDK for DeskScapes is supposed to be released in the near future and DeskScapes 3 is supposed to be able to support a hybrid type dream. When these are released I would be able to see if it can be done.

I'll look into doing something similar at that time.

Cool cool. So I guess I'll have to wait.

What exactly is DeskScape? And Dreams? Is Dreams just the term for an animated wallpaper?

You don't have to answer that, I can google.

But question: Since it supports Vista 32/64bit. Does it support Windows 7? I'm running the RC1 version of Windows 7 as my main OS atm. DeskScapes installed but doesn't seem to want to run. Anyone else running 7 with any input?

Yes DeskScapes will run on Windows 7 but currently the only version that does is a beta. Beta's are only available to Object Desktop subscribers.

The cost is well worth it and along with the programs you have access to the galleries. I would say that Wincustomize has the best animated wallpaper gallery going, with myself having contributed over 250 to it.
