The site is very slow with Firefox

Anyone else?

Sunday, July 19, 2009 by Chasbo | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

With Firefox3 I have seen a drastic slow down on the WC site. I'm using IE8 right now and everything is fine. No slow down at all but Firefox3........bad. Anyone else have this issue?

Damn. I've had problems with this computer.......still don't know what or where the problem is........I know parts of XP are messed up but I don't know if a hardware problem caused it originally. For the most part I am able to use the computer for most tasks but the USB ports won't let me connect my camera or external HD at all. I connect them and when I turn them on the computer reboots itself with errors right away. Don't see anything wrong in device manager. XP SP3.

FF 3.0.11 is terrible here.  Having troubles with IE8 also.

Make sure you upgrade to FF 3.5...the very latest version.  I've found that has significant speedups on many sites.

I'm using Chrome these days, btw.

Things are pretty snappy with FF 3.5 at the moment, but that hasn't been the case for the last week or so.  Over tha last week page loads have taken up to a minute or more, and sometimes forum pages didn't load correctly... as in the last page showed only the OP and the reply box, no user posts.  A forced refresh would sometimes fix that but not always and I would have to try again later.

I just put it down to site maintenance, etc, and exercised some patience.

This site has always been slow at one point or another.

I'm having no issues ATM with Firefox 3.5.1.

Interestingly .. I found it incredibly fast with Safari Browser ...

Server Load time .0000094  Page Render Time 4283 ms

Across the whole Wincustomise  site page speeds are very similar , Galleries and Forums alike ... Whizzy as hell !!

Both IE7,IE8  gave me a 20 second ( on average ) pageload  .. I tried FF but I had issues with it ...

Dont use firefox now, for the simple reason it no longer works on my vista pc and when i try to install any versions it will not load. It has done me a favour as i now use the best fastest and most secure browser i have ever used, MAXTHON 2, it is incredible. bye bye firefox.....

I use Firefox 3.51 for the very reason it's much faster than IE8. I have No Problems with Firefox

That't my own experience.

If I recall Maxthon is based on IE. Firefox is more secure.

Well my computer is fine now. Cleaned out the trojan that was messing it up but the site continues to be slow with FF. IE8 and Opera work better on the WC site right now. I'll have to try out MAXTHON.

It has been painfully slow today (FF 3.5.1)... like go out for a capuccino slow. Page-loads sometimes take a minute plus, and when they finally load some parts are missing... like previous posts and the reply box when selecting the 'last page' on some of the longer threads. Although forced refresh usually restores everything, it is quite slow.... and replies often result in the "It seems one of our coding pigeons has slipped up" error message.  However, when revisiting the thread the reply is there.

Also, when selecting *say* the entire 'General' section while page load times are very slow, only the category header view appears rather than the full general page.  I noticed also that 'last poster' details are not being updated... eg, I was the last poster in the "Blank of Borg" thread, yet DrJBHL shows instead... just in case nobody else noticed.

Lst night FF 3.5.1 was so slow it wouldn't even open most forum pages.  Today it's zipping along.

I think we wouldn't have these problems if we had a vbullentin or PHP based forum.
