Vista Windowblinds and IDM

Thursday, July 16, 2009 by Killasauce | Discussion: WindowBlinds

Hi guys, Im curious if this is a Vista bug when it comes to skinning Internet Download Manager transfer windows. On my wife's XP machine these windows are fully skinned but not on my two Vista machines.

Is this a known bug or is there any way to fix this via settings? Ive tried to add IDM to the custom programs options to try and override settings but still does not work. Thanks for all help!

Hi, yes I agree, nothing comes close!

Nice pic, that window does get skinned on my machine too. Thats the main window though, the window in my pic is the pop up download window, this does not get skinned. As you can see in the pic, only one of the top minimize buttons and the taskbar are skinned. If Im using the default vista aero theme, the window gets skinned, so Im guessing its another WB bug

It looks like that app is adding a custom titlebar button and so WB is detecting this as custom window frames.

Man Im at a loss! I have been trying things all day. I thought this might be an issue only I was having. In the past I have had some problems with WB and popup windows. Things have been looking good though latley after I removed alot of uneeded software. This is the last problem I cant get rid of. I have tried using your 5.08 version of IDM and also tried all my WB skins. Nothing skins the window unless I keep on the default Vista Aero theme. Any ideas guys?

Weird too, because the same issue happens on my other vista 64 pc with all the same software, Mainly Stardock Object Desktop suite, NIS 09, and Ad muncher.

BTW, that is pretty sexy indeed.

Seems like that might be causing the issue. Although bilbo has that button and he has the window skinned. After you said this I noticed on my XP machine where the window is skinned, I do not have that 4th extra button. In fact its weird on the problem machine that 4th button is the only part of the titlebar that is being skinned.

Is there any way to treat this window as being special and tweak some settings to override and force this window to skin it as a normal window? I have compared all my IDM and WB settings on the two machines and everything is the same. I wouldnt care normally if this was a bug but if its just on my machine I would want to try and fix the issue. Thanks Again

P.S. all Nvidia apps are disabled off startup.
