IE8 and Win 7

I've been using Win 7 now for a few weeks....it's going great [apart from Kaspersky failing to restart after a system scan....every night].
Then recently I noticed a slowdown in IE8 loading...and also even in opening new tabs....so I went looking for a solution.
Google works on the GIGO principle....so has always been poorly named.... as there are all sorts of 'hits' relating to IExplore slowdowns.....and even more solutions....some of which are qite 'odd'.
After an hour or two of digging....the remedy was about as simple as it gets....Tools/Manage Addons ....
I disabled them all....the usual crap....Java...Flash...etc....and hey presto....genuine speed again.
BTW....had to re-enable the flash....WC wanted it....
In the bad-old-days of computers...before viable/accessible online 'assistance' life was way more hit and miss....
....ain't modern technology grand....
