Removing Links
Monday, July 6, 2009 by Phoon | Discussion: Community
You know, it's a sad state of political bullshit.
When admins remove links to someones work on other sites in a forum post just because that person no longer wants to display their work here.
The person I'm talking about NEVER said that he would prefer others not mention him or his work at other sites. He simply doesn't want his works here. Nice..

Zubaz--I sent you a PM, but I don't think it got sent. It doesn't appear in Private Messages, and apparently I don't have a clue how to operate the PM system. Would you mind letting me know if you got it or not? Thanks.

WS, you have been PM'd.
I can also be reached at [email protected] if you still have trouble replying to my note. :

i think wc has every right to pull the links, afterall the 'person' in question pulled all skins and comments...hence wanting nothing more to do with wc....so why should wc even contemplate leaving a link to a person who no longer wants to be a part of wc community ? ..to me this is a storm in a teacup and a bit silly. ![]()

I have a feeling Personal Messages aren't working at the moment....![]()

I'm just going to be pretty blunt here.
Nothing personal against anyone in particular, but I myself hold "Master" skinners to a higher standard. They are true artists, and they are the best of the best, that is why obtain a Master status. Some members, including Master skinners don't like the fact that others sell skins. That is their opinion, and they have every right to feel that way. However, selling skins is a "perk" of being a Master and if someone does choose to go that route, you either have to live with it, or decide for yourself what you want to do.
If a "Master" skinner decides to leave WC, that is once again, their right and personal choice. But to go to the lengths of removing every skin, changing a nick to an attention grabber, and deleting every single article/comment is quite irrational in my opinion.
Therefore, I don't see the need to "advertise" their works anymore on WinCustomize.
Please feel free to PM me with any issues about this if anyone feels the need.

I think that only the author of the skins has the right to write eventually links....but in this case NT has left this site, removed all works and deleted his post....i think that NT don't want that his works are present here and not even the links...so if you are really friends of NT respect his decisions....if no it's only pubblicity to others sites...anyway this is very sad

If another user posts a link that NT is somewhere else I think it is also childish that an admin removes the link.
If NT would have posted the message with a link to his works at other sites then I would understand and condone the removal of the link.

Phoon....sadly [for both you and me] the PM system is currently broken...as I typed quite a lengthy explanation that is now lost in the ether.
This public discussion stops here and now.
Island Dog has voiced why the Wincustomize.com Admins were not impressed with recent events.
This recent departure was NOT precipitated by anything originating from Stardock or Wincustomize.com Staff.

I thought my explanation was pretty clear. This is nothing against another member who posted the links, we will simply not help promote them when a "Master" decides to pack it up and leave by deleting everything.
That's really the end of the story. Situations like this have more of a story "behind the scnes" in PM's/emails that the general community never knows about. That is of course how things like this are handled, but people need to realize all this isn't aired to everyone.

What is one to do when something they have given their all for turns around and kicks them in the ass?
Accusations/ blame are being thrown around here and some of you have played a small part in my tantrum.
Do you think I just decided to throw away almost a decade of pixel pushing over what you all think to be silly matters?
I love skinning and will continue to do so. I just couldn't support something any loner that doesn't support me back.
I really didn't think I mattered but the support I have recieved from a bunch of you has been overwhelming. I tried to do it silently and I don't appreciate the tone that I am out for drama. I made 1 last necessary post before leaving and that was it. Had the comments labled "please remove" had been removed then there wouldn't have been any drama. Noone would have known and I could be enjoying a Heiny right this second. People could have left links to my works if they felt it was noteworthy.... just like people have done for years here. Remove links if you feel necessary but the last words I heard from someone here was.... What's good for skinning is good for all skinning ( or something like that ).
Brad was clear. If anyone takes down their work in huff and storms away, they would be exiled. PERIOD. I expected to get exiled so I know what I was doing. It was thought out. I knew I would come back, Getting exiled was the way to go..for me.
This isn't about me and another skinner as some of you would hope. I would never feed someone elses ego that way.
In the last few days leading to my departure, alot happened. Some personal issues between members and issues with the way it was handled. I honestly feel as if I was being taunted and baited by someone , actually I was and am convinced of it. I believe Jafo would have an idea what I mean as I previously discussed a matter with him. A series of tiny steps is all it was.
If any mod would like to discuss this civily, please email me at craig @ cdoman.com. I don't expect it but I owe it to some friends that just won't give up and myself.

As much as this may seem it should be a community matter, you may have been better served PM'ing an admin to find out exactly what happen. You may have done that and they may have felt it's a matter best left discussed between admin and the skinner, I don't know.
It's extremely hard to discuss this without the principal parties as our personal opinions may not have been made or formed with all the relevent information.
It's also possible that you have the relevent information and we don't. I still feel it's probably a situation better served discussed in private.
