I have a cupboard full of 'em....used to work for Warner Bros music in the 70's....rolls eyes*
spot on...
a digital recording doesn't include all the sound information....vinyl gives a much richer, deeper sound....wouldn't swap mine for quids...
I have several 'Little Nipper' HMV radios with the valves.....same thing.....vastly superior tone to transistor radios....
sometimes...with new technology...we win some and lose some...

"and just where were the parents of all these boys that went to stay with him..."
He chose to "invite" poor black boys from broken homes, which meant there wasn't a dad around. And adults were NEVER allowed to "sleepover" or even communicate with their kids left in Mr. Jackson's care, often for days on end. But that's all public knowledge.
The rest will hopefully become so over time.
The saddest thing is that his money and fame (and laywers) actually kept him from being forced to get real, meaningful help for his problem(s). That could have made SUCH a difference in his quality of life over the past 20 years...and those of so many others.

well...doesn't matter whether you're a single parent...or poor...or whatever....they failed their parental responsibilities.... miserably....should have been huge alarm bells going off with those stipulations....
agreed....living in a bubble since childhood...not healthy.....but I do think the parents have to bear some measure of responsiblity for their children's safety.....stupidity...ignorance... isn't an excuse...

How could someone live with themself after taking hush money for someone screwing with your kid? He would have been dead along time ago if it were my kid.

That's because you're a guy and you have the strength to enforce your rage. A single mother is not a very powerful position...I've been there, did that. There's a lot of rage in me towards one scumbag in particular, and I didn't get any hush money. I have my eyes watching him though, and although I'm not much of a believer in karma (except the kind here at WC), he IS getting a little bit of what he deserves by just being alive. Some people are just miserable excuses for human, and they tend to just magnetize misery in return. I would venture a bet there are a few mothers of boys who spent time with MJ who are thinking the same thing about him this moment.
Maybe another one of the reasons they took hush money for what happened to their children is because sometimes there are certain celebrities who are above the law, sometimes there are police who just don't like to enforce things, it would reflect too negatively on their department, etc. There are a lot of reasons someone could live with themselves for taking hush money when they already feel powerless, if for no other reason but to make sure they don't experience yet even MORE pain. Imagine someone powerful wanted to hush something up and somebody refused the cash -- that means they have to resort to punishment rather than reward...hire some goons to make sure nothing surfaces. Cash money beats being wasted by some hired muscle anyday of the year.

MIAMI (Reuters) - A fight broke out on a Florida bus when news of Michael Jackson's death sparked debate over whether he should be remembered as a great musical talent, and one passenger was charged with assault, police said on Friday.
The bus was moving through the city of North Lauderdale on Thursday when passenger James Kiernan received a text message about Jackson's death on his cell phone, and he read it aloud on the bus, the Broward County Sheriff's Department said.
The unidentified bus driver opined that "Michael Jackson should have been in jail long ago," prompting Kiernan, 60, to retort that "the world just lost a great musical talent," the police report said.
It said the last remark enraged another passenger, Henry Wideman, who started a swearing match with Kiernan, then pulled out a knife and chased Kiernan down the aisle with it.
The driver called his dispatcher and pulled over near a convenience store to wait for sheriff's deputies, who arrested Wideman, 54. He remained in jail on Friday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Anger begins and ends with ourselves: We may feel that we are mad at something or someone but really we are the direct objects of our rage.

So true, and how sad it is that some can't contain it and allow their anger to adversely affect others. I mean, how ridiculous, that two old farts would get into a fight on a moving bus over the life/death of Michael Jackson. The fact that one pulled a knife meant there was a potential for other passengers, innocents to be injured.... and that, to me, is human stupidity in the extreme.
I dunno! Sometimes it seems the more civilized we get the more uncivilized we become. ![]()

People who have been injured by rapists, as adults or children, have justifiably strong feelings about this issue. And so do people, like myself, who have had to help and counsel those victims through decades of PTSD trauma.
So while it is true that only we can control (and therefore "end") our own anger, to claim that it "begins with ourselves" neglects the facts about the now-well-understood cycles of physical and sexual abuse.

Excalpius....When one realizes he/she was not 'guilty', and not 'deserving' of violence, then he/she can let go of the anger, directed towards ones self which presents as comorbid Depression/Anxiety. When one comes to forgive violence done to ones self when in a position of relative helplessness, one can proceed with life and find joy.

He told a Rabbi once (just saw it on CNN) that the reason he taught himself to sing, and his feet to move so quickly was to have people like and love him.
Tragic...because he felt he had to seek love for what he 'did' and received it...but everyone should be loved for what he/she is: A human being. One should seek admiration/respect for what he/she does.
Humans come with great strengths and weaknesses which come in part from how they are raised (with or without uncompromising, and unconditional love) and in part from their own innate personalities.
His death is also tragic because with it he lost the opportunities to better himself others.
Let's not just enjoy his talent...let's learn from his life and death. Not to do so would also be tragic.
Well said Doc
