Strange Problem with frames
Wednesday, June 24, 2009 by Sc4rfy | Discussion: Skinning
I'm working on the new look of the windows of my skin and appear a problem that i have never seen...the transparent part of left/right frames has blur effect but top/bottom frames no...and this happens in all windows except documents and others....i don't understand where is the problem? Perhaps too much size transparent is not supported?....i don't know...please help to resolve this problem

Ok i've found the problem and i can't do nothing ![]()
This is a BUG, infact SKS don't support a certain amount of pixels totally transparent in the left/right frames (i've calculated that if you exceed about 50 px of transparent in width) appear the blur effect.
Now if there are some skinner that want try my theory they are welcome so this is can be a precious suggestion for the future updates of sks, thanks

Just for grins...try setting the image states to 1 and cutting your graphic in half.
Just for grins.
Fiddle with your sizing margins might help
One more thing...try putting some nearly transparent pixels out at the the edge...like a border...just to see if having completely transparent edges is causing problems.
Or a huge almost invisible drop shadow...just so its not completely transparent.

If i take off the guns and the border transparent is less of 50 px the problem don't appear, but with the guns i need on the lef/right frames a transparent border many more superior of 50 px.
The almost invisible drop shadow is a solution and i've tried it but don't work, the blur effect appear
For the rest i have not understand your words, what's mean setting image state to 1 an cutting the graphic? Do you mean the window frame count? Many thanks for your reply

Here you see better....i've added a rectangular wit color red and opacity at 20% near the border, and the visualization is correct but the part that i've not painted near the gun is not transparent and appear the famous blur effect, this because the size is over the 50 px

well...may just not be possible...I've given up on lots of ideas because WB just wasnt meant to be pushed away from MS norm that far. ![]()
I put big frames on one of my skins and it had the blur also...

you could try making your left and right frames with bitmaps and magic pink...not ideal, but might work.![]()

Thanks Brainiac, i've think about this possibility and i've try it but this time with magic pink there isn't the blur effect but a black effect!Big transparent frames are not supported ![]()
At the end i've restyling the frames and i've put the guns on top frames in a different way and i think that this solution is good
It's hard the life of the skinner ![]()
