problems with impulse dock

Monday, June 22, 2009 by thuglifesenior | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I'm hoping someone may be able to help me with impulse dock, I had a problem with my pc where as I had to reboot, on starting back up I had a prompt box telling me there was an error with impulse dock but the box was for dell I clicked on send report but I get another prompt box telling me there was an error whilst sending the report so I click on dont send then I get the microsoft error report box up and it goes back and forth all the time so I click on close on both boxes and they disappear but I still can't get impulse dock, I can get impulse from all programmes but when I click on impulse dock in all programmes I get that dell error report I've tried uninstalling the dock and reinstalling but still the same error report, anyone able to help me.

thanks

More information would be helpful.  What OS are you running?  32 bit or 64 bit?  Since you mention Dell Dock I will take it you have a Dell computer.  I haven't seen anything about a conflict between the Impulse Dock and Dell Dock or ObjectDock or ObjectDock Plus.  Are you also running ObjectDock or ObjectDock Plus?

I run Vists 64 bit on one computer and there is a known problem with the Impulse Dock, no problem though on the XP 32 bit computer.

EDIT:  If a mod or admin reads this thread it might be better to have it under Stardock Support.  Just a thought

Should have asked this above, everything was working okay untill you do a reboot, correct?  What was the problem that caused the reboot?  Since you have XP have you considered using the recovery process and going back to a date before you had to reboot when you computer was working okay?

Not a problem thuglifesenior.  System restore (which for some reason i couldn't remember) usually will fixed most problems.

It is interesting that you would get a Dell Dock error notice when you are not on a Dell and don't have the dock.  Could there have been some recent updateing that you may have done (MS updates)?  Just seems really strange.

hi philly, it struck me as being very odd that i get the dell dock error notice and the only way i can get rid of it is by clicking on close then i get the microsoft error dock notice as soon as i close the dell, thanks very much for your input, oh!!! i forgot to say that i took your advice and took a ticket out in stardock support so i'm just waiting to see what they can come up with

The Impulse dock and the Dell dock share a common ancestry.

Next time the MS error pops up, {Ctrl}-C to copy it and paste it here.

Reviving this old post because I still use the Impulse Dock even though it is not supported by Stardock anymore and in the event that others still use it and receive this error, it can be fixed by removing the config file and restarting the dock. The config file is located in C:/users/user-name/Local/Stardock-Corporation/folder/folder/.cfg
