Doc, I TOTALLY appreciate the help and any other you have to offer. This is basically a test to see if I can gether support through power in numbers or if I will need to fight the battle on my own. ![]()
I am sorry it is all so vague right now but I am just getting started and didn't know what to expect.

Add me too... Oz has a lot of Pacific around it and we don't want that junk washing up on our beaches/coastline.
That sucks bigtime.... also, I seem to recall reading somewhere that alcohol should NOT be kept/stored in plastic bottles, there is apparently some kind of health risk attached.

Thanks Starkers. This problem affects the entire world so anyone around the world can make a difference here. ![]()

While there is no need to recycle anything except aluminum (it's the ONLY product that takes more energy to mine/extract/refine/manufacture than it does to recycle; recycling everything else is actually net BAD for the planet), we absolutely positively need to stop dumping NON-biodegradeable trash (i.e. the few plastics still made from petroleum distillates, etc.) into the oceans.
Nature can clean up everything else, and eventually oil will disappear and so will everything made from it, but it can't do anything about the non-biodegradeable waste we keep dumping at sea. Rest assured, that will come back to haunt us one day.
So, because I have done the research, in this one aspect of environmental lobbying, I do indeed agree with and wholeheartedly support Night Train's agenda here.
Cheers!

Seeing how the little games in the forums are getting way more attention I am starting to lose faith in humanity. ![]()

I'm in. I study ocean currents as they relate to shifting weather patterns due to global warming and this is just a small part of a world wide issue. Here's my opinion. If enough awareness can be generated, more than just the web but TV spots such as commercials, nonprofits do it all the time not to mention posters or adds in magazines. Your efforts to get the companies involved is a splendid idea. Instead of boycots, which should really be a last resort, ask that they circulate questionaires among their employees just to get a feel for their attitudes. Something they do all the time. Suggest that getting involved can increase 'their' corporate awareness of a very serious issue. Companies that do get involved can even profit by putting themselves up front on this issue. If just one gets involved others will follow if for no other reason than than to bolster their own image.
Companies thrive on customer opinions, satisfaction and do all they can to insure a return visit by the customers. What better way is there to generate sales and increase profit if the consumer actually sees these companies taking a stand. I applaud your efforts and the fact that here at the WC there are people who care enough to do something. Kudos to everyone whose voice lights the fire to get it done.

Uvah, Yes, that is the approach to take. I see the obstacle as trying to get them to overlook their bottom line for just one second so they know it is the right thing to do. Thanks you for the input.

Remember that MANY plastics today are biodegradeable. The ONLY ones to worry about are the ones derived from petroleum that aren't. 8)
Unfortunately, there are still many in use today. 8(

Yup, and they all end up in this one part of the ocean eventually. It is severly contaminating our food supply. The size of this island has grown twice as large as Texas. It will grow exponentially in relation to a growing population.

Craig, I wouldn't be surprized or depressed about the response you have gotten so far as there is only a handful of members that visit the forums on a regular basis these days and as Doc said, "You need a big net to catch a lot of fish".

Thanks Ken. I didn't mean to sound depressed. I am just seeing the reality of what I am trying to do. I don't fault anyone for not responding and I didn't mean for it to come across that way. It was snide remark that I probably shouldn't have said.
I'm trying to make it as easy as possible for others to get involved without it taking anything from them. I am ready to put in the time and effort. I don't expect anyone else to be anywheres as committed as myself but I welcome any feedback and if my tone is otherwise it's just becuase it gets lost in the intertubes and I am a poor comedian. ![]()
Today is a new day with fresh energy. This stuff exhausts you fast. ![]()

check your karma recently?
Dont recall seeing milk in a glass container in years..plastic only around here and both Kamora (Generic Kaluha) and generic brand vodka almost exclusively in plastic now too.
It's really VERY hard to find local, recyclable/green products here also, v...so I can see what you're saying. You're just gonna have to ferment your own potatoes and grow your own oranges....Kahlua used to come in glass. I remember it...worked in a bar during college.
