Help Obtaining Razer Vista WB
Borked My Computer
Sunday, June 14, 2009 by bmetelsky | Discussion: WindowBlinds
I downloaded Razer Vista (think that was the name) some time ago when I had a subscription for WC. I am no longer a subscriber to the site, but still have my OD subscription. I thought that I might be able to download it again under subscriber resources tab, but guess I am mistaken. Can I still obtain this windowblind for current use? I know there are probably others that I loved and will have a hard time finding.....

Not sure as I have never purchased a skin. I assumed it worked like everything else that is purchased through Stardock.

Not the case here - this was a skin provided to subscribers of Wincustomize a few months ago. I downloaded it while a subscriber to the site. It does not show up on/in impulse.

I think SD support/sales would be the right way to go.
email them, put in the data from your LINK
page and they'll tell you yes or no as to whether you're entitled to it. If so, they'll probably give you a link to download the stuff you were entitled to (software, skins etc.).
Make sure you make a backup! ![]()

Sorry, I thought it was a purchased skin. I see it in my subscriber resources list. Did your subscrition run out?

Yes - my WC subscription expired a short time ago. I am still subscribed to OD.
I emailed Stardock support. Will wait patiently to hear back.

Well, recieved a response from Stardock support, seems like a pretty much "canned" response to me:
Hello,
If you do not have a current WinCustomize subscription you will not have access to Subscriber Resources.
Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

The ticket is reportedly "closed" at this point. Does this seem right/fair? I was entitled to the skin as a WC subscriber. I downloaded the skin as a WC subscriber. I should be able to have it and use it even now, after my subscription expired. I emailed back support 2 days ago and have not had a response back.

The second thing I do, after applying, is to back-up in 2 places(flash drive and CD) any of the subscriber skins I like, this way if I ever let my WC subby expire I will always have the skins.

Yes, it's fair.
You should always back up your software when purchasing or downloading it. Most companies charge extra for extended download access for their software. I was surprised to find that Stardock would supply users with current back ups of their software at the time their Object Desktop subscription expired. I'm not sure if they do that for any of their other software or subscriptions.
If it was me and I wanted it bad enough, I would call their tech support and explain your situation to them. Every time I've called, I've always got someone that was professional and extremely helpful.
Keep in mind, Curt is right, you're no longer a subscriber and you're not entitled to the subscriber skins.
I'm not sure of your situation but it may be easier to just re-subscribe.

Yes, it's fair.
I agree
That which someone gets as a free benefit while meeting requirements at the time does not mean the supplier has to keep resupplying that free benefit when the requiremen is no longer meant.
To me, it's no different than if I download all free subscriber skins today, let my subscription run out and come back 5 yrs later going... hey I lost those skins you gave me 5 yrs ago and I need them back...

I guess I was venting more than anything else. Obviously I think it is not fair. Been around here for a long time, bought a lot of software, subscribed to the site multiple times. Had to use support a total of two times - both times I felt like I recieved no support. On this particular issue, it would have taken someone in support less time to actually look at my account, verify that I was a subscriber at the time the skin was offerred, and send me a link then it would have to send me the canned responses. Oh well, I will move on and let this one go. Not much else to do. I have learned a valuable lesson - backup everything.

If you install Impulse you should have it stored there where it can be downloaded over and over.
