Two problems with my skin

Wednesday, April 15, 2009 by Sc4rfy | Discussion: Skinning

I'm working on my skin and as always there are some problems

Ok my first problem is this:

The inactive test (yellow marker) in some programs is horrible and i don't remember the right command for change it (I've change only the colors not the font)...please help because i've rechange all the colors and i don't found the specific color

Second problem:

In the search box in the start menu the icon is disappeared!

I confide in this great community for a help! Thanks

Anything of use to you in this thread LINK

I've seen that issue with the search icon but can't find the solution in the forums. I'll keep looking.

Edit: I did find the thread LINK but it looks like the experts have found you.

What a great community!

For the second problem:

Do you have a large space between the taskbar and the bottom of the start menu?

Or is the bottom part of your start menu higher than 58 pixels or so?

the only place I was able to quickly locate the disabled color was in 3D controls-Button-Shadow which is in classic colors in SKS5...forget where in SKS6. the doubling effect dosnt show in my skin but I may have matched that color to the background.

It could possibly be in your menu settings...there is a switch for flat disabled text state for menus.

I had the same problem with the search icon...I think it was due to my logoff area being too tall and I had to shrink it down.

To elaberate: the bottom of the start panel includes the blank space below it (where you may have a drop shadow). If the hight is too great, the search icon hides below the searchbox. You'll notice that if you type something into the searchbox, the icon will pop up for the rest of your session.

The bottom part is high 84 px....mmmhh i can't make small it...but perhaps is better increase some pixel so the icon disappeared totally? so the estethic result is better? no?

In ghostshell i had a large bottom ( )  ...no but serious... my solution was to make a small arrow in the space that was showing.. and yeah your suggestion is totally valid aswell and probably the better looking one for you.

This might be true but dont change your skins (if you are happy with them) just to please people who cant live without a little icon.

Remember you are making it for free, if it was a master skin then maybe it would be different.... imo anyway

no search icon seems like no big deal to me if it serves the rest of the design better...one thing tho...does it jump back in when you use the search box?

Yes the icon jump back when i use the search box.....and i don't want know because this happen...there is something of magic in SKS

But not only jump back...the icon remain! It's not a joke...

So if you want see the icon use the serach box and then the icon remain...crazy thing
