must be so many talented shrinking violets out there who never get their turn in the spotlight...I'm glad she got her moment...let's hope it leads to better things....

Yup, my grandmother never made it to the stage - most of her singing was confined to the kitchen, etc, while she was cooking/cleaning - but my mother made it to Pot of Gold (remember that one, sydney?) with Bernard King as one of the judges... think Simon Cowell is rude/blunt on talent shows, this guy invented it.

As for Susan Boyle... I hope the sky is no limit and she goes far with that beautiful voice of hers.

I would have to say.... Not really... Susan had a way greater impact than the Queen video, but it IS darn funny and I sat here giggling to myself the whole time.

To be as funny as Boyle is uplifting I would have had to be on the edge of totally uncontrolled laughing with a great risk of falling off the chair. Queen just isn't quite there.

  sure do....

Bernard King also had a cooking show......every week...he would constantly belittle & insult, in new and inventive ways, people who lived in Toorak.....I was living in Toorak at the time....was 18 years there.....got sick of it one day....(mind you...he wasn't always wrong    )....and sat down and wrote him a very long winded letter (typed page and a half) telling him all about himself.....thought to myself....that'll fix him..put him in his place.....................he read it out on air     he loved it.... yeah...he made Simon look like a Sunday school teacher...

Yeah, mum gave him a right royal gobful backstage after he was rude to her during the PoG auditions... must've worked.  On the day she performed on the show, he was unusually pleasant and actually said something nice... guess he didn't want a repeat of the F-word on air.

yeah...he made Simon look like a Sunday school teacher...

Sure did!   Best talent show judge ever was Red Symons on Hey Hey it's Saturday's Red Faces segment...at least he was funny with it,
