Another taskbar problem.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009 by k10w3 | Discussion: Skinning

With SKS 6, apparently what you see is NOT what you get!  Why, when I apply this WIP does the taskbar double in size?  It's so frustrating because I'm really happy with the why things look in SKS 6, but then I apply it, and it's a ginormous let down!

If any kind souls would like to help and need to see where I may have botch things, the .wba file can be downloaded here:

I just spent my last two days that I didn't have to work consumed with this...fortunately for me, I have to work again tomorrow, otherwise I'm pretty sure, a few more days of this and I'd be outside chasing down small animals.

Hey Karen; what OS are you skinning on/for. I just downloaded and tested on XP Home SP3 and the taskbar applied fine for me, one row as your SKS preview shows.

Ok I will have to do some digging, after dragging taskbar to double height it will not drag back to single.

You have text margins set for the gripper. set them all to zero and things will pop into place.

After applying another skin to get taskbar back to one row then reapplying your skin it applied as for you, as double.

I have played with settings for text margins and font size for buttons and sys tray, was able to get sys tray icons back to one row but taskbar size will not change, in fact the buttons just get smaller height wise on taskbar.

Maybe Vstyler or someone else will see thread and be able to help.

Maybe, if you have updated to latest WB version as I have, you have found a new WB bug.

Hey Xiandi; how/why did you even think to check the gripper and I wonder why that even has text settings.

Note to self; reload thread and check for new replies before I start typing.

I knew that all the margins on the taskbar can change the size of it. I just systematically checked all of them. I have no idea why there are text margins there....there must be a reason, right?

That did it!  Thanks Xiandi.  This would have eaten at me until I figured it out.
