Views menu issues-Vista

Monday, March 2, 2009 by jazzymjr | Discussion: Skinning

I ran into a problem with the views menu on the blind I am working on right now.  I think it uses the start menu pop up menu and the start menu item.  For some reason, I can't get the text (content) margins to align right.  The right side of the mouseover is clipped off.  Does anyone have any clue on how to fix this?  Here's screenie of what I am talking about:

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

No answer as of yet. I just checked several blinds, including some master skins, and I find this problem on each one! Maybe this news is of some comfort, at least!

The views menu seems to use either the start menu pop-up menu or the favorites menu. I don't have time to check out which.

The mouseover, however, seems to be either the toolbar button or the standard menubar item. Again, I don't have the time to check thoroughly.

I tried adjusting the content margin settings and it didn't work.

That works for start menu menu item but not the view menu, which uses toolbar buttons for its mousover.

WB bug MJ as far as I'm concerned.

Mirsguy, the menu is the start menu pop-up menu, and the mouseover is the start menu item.  I deduced that by mucking with colors, to figure out what was being used.

vStyler....that sucks!  I don't remember that menu being mucked up with my Scapolite or Daybreak menus..both of those were done in SKS 6.3.  This blind is being done in SKS 6.4.  So maybe it is a bug with the new version....maybe when they added the mouseover for the programs panel, it changed something else.

Dang......

try using someone elses toolbarbutton and sizes and do your graphics over it, i often do that, so i have the right size, and margins ect...... i often use mikeb's menu item from dragon, it seems to work for everything for me. except of course i have done my design over the top of it....so its still mine, ive just pinched the template for the exact size and measurements...

but like you said.....if its only happening in 6.4 and not in 6.3 thats a reall bummer......

You might look at BBK by the AVMan,the menus are ok on it. Maybe it will help.

Start menu item and View mouseover don't look the same to me here...

In my case, the view mouseover looks to be the toolbar button.

Actually, BBK does the same thing. I'd say it's just a bug that needs fixed.

Doubtful it will ever be fixed then, unless by accident. Everyone is all gaa-gaa over Windows7 so Vista will no doubt be forgotten about.

Mirsguy, I stand corrected.  The mouseover IS the toolbar button.....sorry about that.  I spent hours yesterday trying to fix the thing.  I cannot find a fix for it at all.  I guess we will just have to live with it.

Hopefully, Stardock gets wind of this and fixes it for 6.5...
