Aero stops working

As soon as a skin is applied, Aero stops working

Monday, March 2, 2009 by nf1n1ty | Discussion: WindowBlinds

Hey guys,

after using standard Vista themes for a long time I finally got myself Windowblinds (v 6.40.108) - the real deal, so to say.

Everything was working fine until I got myself a new 1TB HD and did a reinstall of Vista (x64 Ultimate). Now 2 days into my new install WB causes Aero to stop working as soon as I apply a WB skin. This happens with every skin I have installed - that includes skins included with WB.

I already tried disabling various tasks to see if any of them are causing it, but standard Aero is working just fine. WEI is 5.9 for everything except CPU (don't know why a [email protected] still is a 5.7 as it's 5.7 @2.66Ghz as well, but that doesn't belong here).

Uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling didn't help either.

Now I searched the forums (and google) for quite a bit and couldn't find a solution to my problem.

I would appreciate any help here as I love my "eno" skin and want to use it with Aero.

I'm not a novice concerning PCs, but I'm at a loss here.

edit:

forgot to mention: sometimes it works, but when I restart it's back to the Vista Basic theme again.

Looks like the version number you have is from Impulse.  Try right clicking on WindowBlinds in Impulse and selecting "Verify Installation", which may help.  If not, are you running any sort of security apps that would interfere with WindowBlinds skinning properly?
