Petitation To Have Star Dock Release Programs for Windows 7 Beta 1

Tuesday, February 3, 2009 by Donald Zuchowski | Discussion: Stardock Support General

Since Windows 7 Beta 1 is not released with an installed base of over 2.5 million copies, Star Dock should release a beta of products for Windows 7. Heck their is even a petitation to have Windows 7 released now. Let the 7 love start now......

Betas of products compatible with Windows 7 will eventually show up for Object Desktop subscribers first.  Regardless of the install base, it still is a beta operating system, and there is still work to be done.

Crikey guys, give them a chance, they have so many products, and sub-products, though I'm certain Win 7, is high on their priority list.. you gotta cut them some slack..   it hasn't even gone gold.

But petitations apparently aren't.

It really just goes to show the interest and passion that people have for Stardock applications.

Thanks guys, keep up the good work.

yeah right, and most probably have those same programs break when beta 2 is released.

get real, when windows 7 gets closer to final product then you will probably see stardock release compatible versions of their software.

Petition? I petition that we should have a fully working Object Desktop for OSes that are available RETAIL first. After everything works flawlessly, I petition that we get some awesome new features for Object Desktop  on RETAIL operating systems.

Meanwhile Stardock can keep developing their alpha versions of Object Desktop behind closed doors until an actual RELEASE CANDIDATE of Windows 7 is out, then release it for testing by subscribers.

Releasing beta software for a beta OS is a BAD, mmmmkay?

I can already see the posts, some has ALREADY started (like this silly petition thing ) ... "Windowblinds doesn't work on my Windows 7, bootskin screwed up my Windows 7 it won't start... Stardock is so bad, I pay for this software yadda yadda" .... *shiver*

....all of which is entirely the fault of Microsoft, no-one else.  It is THEIR beta OS which has been released to 'anyone' silly enough to think everything will/should function correctly under it.

It's a safe bet that the MAJORITY of people currently 'playing with' Win 7 probably really shouldn't.  Certainly their expectations are clearly much higher than logic or good sense would allow.

If ANY proggy fails to work, correctly or at all - under Win 7....it is unfortunate, nothing more.

WHEN the OS goes Gold it is 'probable' that most programs 'expected' to work will do so.

Complaining about disfunction within a beta is of anecdotal [or developmental] interest only, nothing more...

Beta testing can be fun.....but when you sit there staring at a dead monitor with a faint wisp of smoke emanating from the tower....just smile....you're on the bleeding edge....

Do we need to remind everyone of Vista and the fallderall that came about when it was released?

It's a Beta OS

It's a Beta OS

It's a Beta OS

A petition, eh?  Shouldn't we first take a vote to see if we want to petition or lobby Stardock?

The majority of people backing a petition like that is most likely in their early teens and are not the least bit interested in actually BUYING windows 7 even if Microsoft would release it now. I'd love to see a public petition managed by microsoft where people actually have to enter their legit retail OS product serial to state their interest.

While W7 work good for a beta, there's a huge number of reasons why Windows 7 is nowhere near ready to be released now. You don't need to be a software engineer to realise that..
