Summer '09 has arrived...
and it's gonna get warm.

Apparently us poor bastards in Melbourne [Australia] are in for the hottest stretch of days in 100 years... [bit tough for the Oz Open [tennis], too]....
Today it'll be 38...
Tomorrow [Wednesday] 41
Then 40, 40, 40, 30, 30.
Yes, that's centigrade....for those still in the dark ages that's [C x 9/5] + 32 = Fahrenheit....![]()

I lived in Brisbane, well Redland Bay, and it was NEVER hot, not how they make QLD out to be at all, in fact, Summer is MONSOON season, I saw more hail there than sun.![]()

I agree. The further north I lived, the less hot and stuffy the Summers were (at least in the years I lived there).
Townsvillle was way less hot than Lismore. Lismore got these really horrible Northerlys which turned the (not-insulated) iron-roof of my little house into a perfect pizza-oven. Townsville got much more rain during the same time and everything had the chance to cool down again.
Jafo; the Australian heatwave was in the news here yesterday!

aufisch, Yeah Redland Bay isn't too far north, this was years ago, I remember I went to Cleveland High for a year
.. worst school and state in the history of the world... ok.. so my 'natural' mother lives there [somewhere].. that state isn't big enough for the both of us.![]()

Now a good news
The Austraillian claims that
The Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research
has designed a new instrument for measuring temperature. It is promised to be revolutionary and never before in history of Science.
It is able to do various statistical operations itself too.
The only demerit being that it consumes a lot of energy.
And it is also said that its more accurate in measuring temperature than Atomic Clock in time.
Its only said though God knows the rest.

Back online....power demands exceeded supply....lost it for about 2 hours.
45.1 today is 113.2 F so we survived the new entry into the record books.
Tomorrow [Saturday] it's 'only' 35 or so ....so I'll go cycling....do my 50k or so....![]()
Mad bastards, we Aussies....![]()
